We camped on Site A16 for one night. It was one of only 2 sites remaining when I made reservations. On the positive side, it was level for tenting, close to the bathrooms which were well maintained and clean. Cave springs Campground is in close proximity to the West Fork of Oak Creek Trailhead. On the negative side the site had no grass on which to pitch our tent, just bear soil, which was a dust bowl when we were there. The dust stuck to the bottom and tracked into the tent. My suggestion is to upgrade campsites with a 12 by 12 gravel pad with wood ties to hold the gravel in place. This would be a relatively inexpensive and easy fix. It would be in line with other USFS campgrounds such as Black Canyon (Taos, NM) and Ponderosa (Payson AZ).

The campground hosts were exceptional both days we stayed. All were very friendly and had helpful suggestions besides the west fork trail, which by the way was exceptional.

This site is very close to bathroom, water source, and creek. If you have Verizon service it will work cant speak about the rest. The creek is within walking distance. Plenty of room for everything you need to setup and then some. It was nice not to be so close to everyone compared to some of the other spots. Anywhere on A loop is a good spot.

Very rustic location. Heavily wooded. They were out of ice. Lots of poison ivy by the river bank. Bathroom were very gross, lots of flied and not cleaned well.

I recommend reserving A Loop closest to the creek. The sites are very large and neighbors are not intrusive. The camp ground could be very crowded but you couldn't tell if you reserved a site on A Loop. Know the month or week you want to go and reserve about 6 months in advance.

A beautiful, clean, and natural setting to come home to while exploring all of the nearby must sees in Sedona and Oak Creek. We had a wonderful time!

The space between the sites was good. The campsite was fairly level. The road in and out was fairly smooth. The hosts were amiable. My only complaint was the water hydrants. Obviously, they are deliberately designed to NOT attach a hose to them. We have an RV with a 32 gallon fresh water tank. We would love to fill it up with something other than by lugging a six gallon container back and forth.
