The pay-shower was not working. There was a sign on the door saying the shower does not work. Very disappointing.

Lovely campground. Spacious campsites, but very difficult to negotiate our trailers into our sites due to the misguided placement of the short posts in the ground to protect the edge of the pavement. Bring kindling or other material to help your fire get started because the fire rings are completely closed around the bottom and your fire can't get air. Plus it was damp, and our firewood really needed help getting going. Went in Early March, expected it to be cold, and it was!Vault toilets were clean. Camp hosts were super friendly. Would definitely recommend this campground!

Quiet, large campsite with mix of sky and trees. Clean pit toilet. Lots of space to park. Beautiful setting, close to the meadow hiking trail. Watch out for squirrels!

Nothing wrong with the facility, but I am rather displeased with the information available on the current state of fire restrictions. It wasn't easy to try and finagle leaving work several hours early on a Friday and make my way to the site, after checking on fire restrictions at the time of purchase. My first clue was seeing the prohibition listed at the entrance to the facility. Granted I should likely have been more diligent in checking, but with the state of information exchange possible in the modern world, this should have been a bit more evident.
Anyway. I'm always happy to fund the parks department so I'm not too bitter, but come on guys, it's really not my favorite thing to trade hot dogs and a campfire with friends for shivering in my tent at 5:30pm for the next 14 hours without an advance heads-up. A campfire is a sort of minimum in my mind, for the camping experience.

First and last time camping in california. We were advised after we purchased all the food for our camping trip that we were not allowed to use propane in the campground. This advisement came the night before we were scheduled to arrive when this change had been implemented a week prior. I have never been to a campground that did not allow usage of propane (especially since there was no fire anywhere near our location; smoke was not even visible).
The camp hosts were not knowledgeable in their duties. The day after we arrived at camp, we saw a news story that all california campgrounds would be shut down due to a fire that was nowhere near our location. The camp hosts did not advise any of the campers that we were required to leave by noon the following morning. The only reason my family was aware was due to an email sent to us by recreation.gov.
In addition to all of this, recreation.gov refused to refund the amount we spent on day passes for the hiking trails in the area. We were told these were non-refundable even though the campgrounds and hiking trails were closed by the order of the state.
My family spent a lot of time in preparation for our trip. We were very excited for this trip and it ended up being one disappointment after another and in the end, we were not even refunded our money.

We stayed here two nights, most people brought tents and small travel trailers, easy access to trails from the campground. Showers and restrooms were also available. i plan to camp here again many, many more times in the near future.

Great camping spot with beautiful scenery and lots of room for kiddos to explore. Lots of hiking trails nearby of all distances and mostly easy for everyone in the family. Also very close to Julian if you need to get away for lunch or some pie.

Make sure to prepare for precipitation if you visit in the late winter, we were prepared for the cold but not the rain, hail, snow and mud that came down overnight. Will return in the fall perhaps.
