Quiet, picturesque location. We enjoyed hiking the nearby trail to Ptarmigan Lake and visiting nearby Moose Pass for a warm meal and fresh ground coffee.

This is a very nice little campground. It's pretty small, with around 15 campsites. The sites are well separated from each other by trees, and most of the sites had pretty good shade for most of the day. The parking areas all looked to be fairly level. We stayed in site 12, located at the top of a small loop. There was plenty of room to park a vehicle, set up a tent on the right side of the pad, and have good separation between the tent and the fire ring on the left. Site 13, a pull-through site, is across from site 12, which does lessen site 12's privacy a bit. Most of the sites do not have something directly across from them, and are staggered instead. The vault toilets are located beside site 13, so it was a quick and convenient walk from our tent. The toilets (2) were very clean and well-maintained. The campground as a whole was quiet, with everyone observing quiet hours (10 PM to 6 AM), though there is some road noise from the highway during daytime hours, and I did hear a few generators running during the day. After dark/during quiet hours, you can hear Ptarmigan Creek running. All dogs that I saw were controlled and/or on leash, which was nice. The host was onsite at all times, though we did not need to contact them for anything. There is a day use parking lot near the entrance to the campground, with a 7 mile trail leading up to a lake, if you're up for a hike. There is also a small fish viewing area beside the creek. I enjoyed my stay here and will be back!

Nice campground. Spaces are small so the larger rigs arent there. No cell service in the campground itself. If you need it, Moose Pass is 6 miles up the road.

Pleasant little campground located on a creek and featuring a trailhead up to Ptarmigan Lake. Some low hanging branches were unavoidable when backing in the small (12' high) camper into the space.

Beautiful location. Campsites are each tucked into the trees so you’re not right on top of your neighbors. Right next to Ptarmigan Lake Trail. Can’t wait to camp here again.

We love staying at the Ptarmigan Creek Campgrounds. It’s tucked back in the trees with calm and quiet surroundings (unless there’s road work happening, but hey, that’s Alaska summers for you.) It’s a quick walk from the campsites to the river stream. We’ve hiked the entire trail all the way up to the lake and it was beautiful! The campsites always seem well maintained and clean. We can’t wait to come back for another weekend trip.

No bear boxes or food storage, expensive when booked through rec.gov, shared bathroom with trailhead parking area, and active blasting/road construction overnight.

Our original site (#1) reservation was much too small for our 19 ft. trailer and truck. Campground host said we could move to a larger site that worked out great. It would be nice to know ahead of time what size the sites are so you aren't left in a tough spot if other sites aren't available. Cell service at the campground is spotty with Verizon and worse with AT&T, just so people know (not a campground issue, but good to know).

A great, quiet campsite only 20 miles from the city of Seward, with a hiking trail out to a beautiful lake that also includes campsites. Highly recommend a stay!

Nice campsites with lots of space and trees between sites for quiet and privacy. We really enjoyed the hike up to Ptarmigan lake. Bathrooms (pit toilets) were clean. Would love to stay here again or for longer.

Beautiful setting. Nice wooded camping areas very private. Bathrooms clean. Camp hostess was helpful and showed us the direction to take the awesome trail. We had a lovely time. I would encourage campers to bring their own campfire wood as site doesn’t have much around.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
