Porcupine is a LOVELY forest campground! As an Alaskan, I have camped here several times with delight. The campground is located beyond the end of the small town of Hope, and even when music events are happening in town, the campground is quiet. The trees are tall and super healthy, and the greenery is lush. The campsites are very nice, and the outhouses are kept cleaned and stocked daily. This year's campground hostess, Karen, is friendly and attentive. My ONLY complaint is that, for whatever weird reason, horseflies hatched out here this summer, and were quite the pest in the middle of the day when the temperatures were warm. Horrible beasts! I'd not experienced them before this summer. We were grateful we'd brought a bug tent!

There is lots of room between campsites and it is beautiful there. We had fun hiking on trails and found some great shops and restaurants in Hope. The Dirty Skillet was a lot of fun - great music, food, and atmosphere.

We arrived about 7:00 pm and were unable to locate camp host. We knew which campsite was ours and proceeded to it. Our campsite had our name listed and we set up camp. The campsite was clean and was what we expected. E spent the night and left early the next morning.
