One of the best campgrounds ever. Private campsites, not crowded. Hope is amazing if staying here.

Loved this! Well definitely be back. The views are beautiful and theres trail access literally from the campsite. I do wish they had bear lockers, but we made do just fine without one. It is such an incredible beautiful place and felt very private and quiet and secluded.

Great space, large picnic table, and amazing view from the tent camping area. The picnic area was protected from the winds (thick brush), so having a campfire felt safe. The only con was that the pull in spot didnt have any shade as there is a small parking lot across from the site (no trees, no shade). Also, its next to a trailhead, so it didnt feel as private. However, the site was very clean and well taken care of. One of my favorite campgrounds in Alaska!

Gorgeous view of Turnigan Arm! It felt very private with the set up. We would definitely stay here again!

Porcupine was probably our favorite campground on this trip! Beautiful view of the Turnagain! We'll be back!

We loved our Site #16. It was just far enough away from the 'cliff' that we didn't have wind, but still had a view of the ocean. We enjoyed our visit with the camp hosts, too. We didn't see a bear (we always do when we're there), but we did experience thunder and hail for about an hour. We intend to return to this campground!

I made an online reservation at Porcupine Campground 4 months ago for site 14. We arrived in Hope at Porcupine to find my reservation posted at site 14 and another car parked there. They were not present in the campsite , we found out later they had parked in our reserved spot and had hiked out Gull rock trail to camp. Obviously this was very disheartening as site 14 is a special spot and had been reserved for a memorial occasion .

Great little area, most sites offer very good privacy.

This was our first time camping at a national park in the US, so maybe I just didnt know what to expect if youre looking to just pull up your RV for a night or two Im sure its fine. Park was clean and sites had good privacy. We were tent camping (probably the only ones in the park with a tent), but had to set up on the asphalt pad because there was nowhere on the site to set up a tent. Maybe other sites had space, but when you book online there are zero photos of what the sites look like. We pre-booked and selected tent, it wouldve been helpful for the booking page to show only sites that had proper space for tents. There was a deep campfire ring (we could barely see the fire), and a huge picnic table that we couldnt move at all. There were no issues finding our site when we got there, but Im used to having a camp store or registration where you can at least speak with someone or browse a little store. There is a staff site, but we never saw anyone there.The washrooms were vault toilets, decently clean (for a vault toilet), but no sinks. We couldnt get water from the taps (only tried one of them), but had brought some of our own anyways so it wasnt an issue. We hiked the gull rock trail which was moderately maintained, but there wasnt much else to do there. We went to the Dirty Skillet in Hope for dinner which was great!! We had hoped that we could get down to the water since the park is so close, but there was no beach or anything that we could find.

Sites at this campground are becoming overgrown and it looks like no maintenance has been done in years. At the end of June, there had been no maintenance to clear brush or devils club around campsites, to have space to pitch tents or enjoy a campfire by the ring. The plants are growing into the road, specifically devils club which can give people blisters if theres sun exposure following contact. If you get a campsite looking out at Turnagain Arm/water, its obscured now by high brush and devils club. Super sad to see this, given they are putting money into building another cabin but no money spent to maintain the campground.

A very nice campground with clean sites and restrooms. Black bears do frequent the campground. We had one eating berries 8 from our camper. It Is THIER backyard so be bear aware.

The was a black bear in the campsite but the host was very clear with what needed to be done. So many raspberries!! Excellent views, great fishing, and really close to a great concert venue and experience.

We love staying there. Weather was good. Just fun to sit around the campfire. Thanks for a great time. Ice Cream bars in town wer good too and watching the fishermen.

Clean but a bit overgrown trail to campsite.
@DebD269020C410 · Camped on Jul 16, 2023 at Campsite #10
I got to my site past the check in time. The fire pit was full of food leftovers and garbage. This is an area with many black bears. Once I cleaned out the garbage, the fire pit has so much ash, it was not useable. The site was overgrown with grass, cow parsnip, and alders or willows. In other words, this campground is not getting well maintained. I've been going to Porcupine for many years and I've never seen it this bad.

I would rate this zero stars if I could. We were stuck in heavy traffic and were an hour late to our reservation. There was nowhere to call and I tried to get on the reservation page to make changes, but it kept saying “too late”. We reserved 2 spots, 6 months ago, and they were given away. There were no spots for us so we were left with a completely ruined weekend that was planned months in advance. The campground host was unhelpful and rude. We lost almost $160, yet Porcupine Campground got twice the money for the spot.

Great campground with good trails and nearby Hope. Weather was not so great but it is what it is.
@JoshB6153063 · Camped on Jun 15, 2023 at Campsite #27
The campground is great: very secluded and just on a bluff above the rocky coast of Turnagain Arm. It is great having the gull point trail accessible right out of the campground. There isn't much else to do in Hope, so just be aware of what you are getting into there. If you just want to chill, hike a couple of trails and be in a secluded campground, this is it. If you are trying to cram as much into your Alaska trip as possible, you might want to detour around Hope.

The campground was in a beautiful setting nestled in the woods overlooking Turnagain Arm. The Gull hiking trail was located in the campground and it was an easy hike.
I would definitely recommend booking a spot.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
