We stayed at site A11. This is a site we regularly get at least once a year. The site was clean for the most part except for food disposed of toward the back of site, which is a problem for us because we have to labs that camp with us. So this means the host didn’t check the site after the previous guest departed. Also the area around the site had Almost waist height grass in surrounding area. When I called down to the office, I spoke with a ranger who explained about budget restrictions and working with only a skeleton crew but assured me someone would be up to assess the situation. I saw no ranger all weekend except for a service truck that drove. This trip for us was also a birthday celebration and we had grandchildren coming up. I took the lack of concern of site condition upon myself and got my weed eater from my house and cleared the site and surrounding area myself. Yes it wasn’t much of an inconvenience to me since I live in Polk county at the bottom of the mountain but yet something I shouldn’t have to do since I paid for a site that should have been maintained. We have been to Chilhowee for many years and even was married at the lake up there. It’s just sad to see that something’s have fallen to disrepair.

We were at site #11. Water was out of service. I paid for two nights of electric but the first night the power to the trailer quit. Next day the Ranger did come by and check the electric tower and said it had power. But still wouldnt work. Called an RV repairman. $370 later he said the park electric tower was not working properly. I wont be coming back here

Very pretty campground with nice trails. Quiet atmosphere and a nice family swimming area. The cooler mountain temperatures were a nice relief.

Chilowee is one of my favorite campgrounds always try to go twice a year but always make it the last camping trip of the year. Best campground host's anywhere.

The campground was clean, unlike the road and overlooks getting to the campground. I have traveled all over the United States and have never seen so much trash alongside a road, especially in one of our national parks and forest's. The overlooks were heavily covered in graffiti and a memorial was disfaced. So sad to see our land like this.Possitive: the campsites were well spaced apart, beautiful hike to Benton Falls. Gorgeous views from overlooks.Negative: dump station was located down a curvy steep road. Would have had to do a u turn on a steep incline. Not possible with a larger RV. Also, there are no campsites on the "7" acre lake. (More like a small pond)Zero cell coverage at campsite. Had to go to overlooks to use phone.
