Enjoyed the stay. Would definitely come again. Only reason for leaving off the 5th star was the fire ants... everywhere in spot #18.

Wonderful camping experience with our family! We did have a major issue one night that I wanted to address - it became a good thing!Midway through our camping there, it started to rain. Some were inside the camper cooking, while I was outside under the awning. Then we lost power. I checked the connections, and the pedestal was working. So I checked the cord coming into the camper. It would not come off the camper...because it had apparently arched for some reason and was melted together. I was able to take them apart (after disconnecting all power). Fortunately, we were okay, and there's was no fire. The managers, Jesse and Katy, stopped by and we told them what happened. Jesse gave a few suggestions and offered to help in any way. When I completely disassembled the cord, I brought it over to the camp host, Allen, to see if he could assist. He, too, made a couple of suggestions, including information about where to buy a new 30-amp cord and inlet for the RV. He also said he would help with rewiring the new inlet. The next morning, I drove about an hour away to Ellijay, GA, where was able to purchase a new 30-amp cord, inlet for the RV, and a surge protector. Allen came over and assisted me with the install. We were concerned there might be further damage inside the electrical system, but he used his electric gauge, and we were running fine.I am certainly grateful for the support of Jesse, Katy, and Allen. Leaders and camp hosts like this are quite special, and we certainly appreciate their help. Already looking forward to our next camping excursion to Morganton Point...just without any electrical issues!!!Thank you much,Bill Davis

Loved our experience except for the big tree branch falling with a thud on our roof. No damage at all and the camp worker lent us a ladder so we could gat it off the roof. Just something to be aware of when booking a treed site. We picked site 18 as it was close to the showers and restrooms which were very clean. Be aware that the lights in the restrooms are on timers which is a problem especially at night when they go off in the middle of your shower. Bring a flashlight. Would have liked to go swimming but the path down to the beach was way too steep and rocky for our 70 + legs. lol. Well be back!

Love this place. The on site manager RD brought over my parking permit and Welcomed Me and my Golden Retriever. He gave us the park rules and pointed out the Bath houses and Shower Rooms. Then asked if we would like any Firewood or Ice. RD brought over 4 bundles of Firewood and two bags of ice. Firewood $7 a bundle and we had fire and Ice and an absolutely Amazing 2 Week Respite in the National Forest. Bird watching every morning on the Point, Canadian Geese gently landing on Lake Blue Ridge. RD told me Forest Inspired Nature Discovered was what FIND stood for. Im already booked to come back in July and September on the Recreation.gov Website that RD showed me how to use. Fantastic Place, Fantastic People. Secluded and Private sites Separated by Forest, connected by hiking trails through out the Park. RD Leaves you to your Privacy but is there anytime you want him, just look for him on his Gator doing his best to maintain my favorite Refuge.Tony & Beau Clark

I liked this site so well that I returned with family so they could experience it for themselves. You can't go wrong with any spot because they are spacious and kept up. The manager and other grounds workers were so friendly and helpful. We were new campers and he helped us city folk make a fire. That meant a lot to us for him to take time away from his busy duties to make sure we were ok and enjoyed our camping experience. I would recommend anyone to come here! We also enjoyed the clean water and beach!

Morganton Point Campground was as good an experience as always. We have camped there. for, literally, 50 years. There have been many improvements, of course, The bath houses are always clean and well-supplied. I woudl prefer paper towels to air dry, but that is minor. Two major needs to make it really usable for handicapped and the older population are sewage and paved pads. The gravel is extremely hard on arthritic and/or injured joints, for those with unstable balance, and impossible for those on walkers or wheelchairs, thus truly handicapped miss a wonderful experience. It is also very hard for older and disabled to use the dump station. If some sites could be fixed for the disabled, it would be such a blessing for all of them and us. We have noticed this lack more and more as we get older and more disabled. PLEASE see about grants or something to remedy the desperate need. For many older people camping is the only way to afford time away in nature, relaxing from a stress life, etc.as always, the staff was very helpful and friendly. We always appreciate them. One last comment. The restrooms were being used by non campers fro showers about every evening and maybe other times when we were not at the site to see. The staff was aware of it and did come one evening to speak to some before they showered then checked after to be sure, I guess, that they left it clean. They were back the next evening without a check. I assume it is okay, and I certainly have sympathy and even admiration for those willing to work and even try to stay clean even though they may be homeless. but do try to be sure the cleanliness is adhered to closely and monitored before it gets out of hand. Thanks.

This is a great campground. we love it. BUT the added charges are out of line for a govt resource. Having to cancel a 1 night reservation with reservation fee ( what is this?) and add on for electricity meant that a $29 reservation was was refunded $11. And it was weeks before the reservation date. They got something going on here that I don't expect from reservations.gov

We just stayed there two nights. We were very thankful for the nice clean bathroom with the showers. Everybody was very helpful and accommodating. Everything was clean and the guests were also very friendly. A good place to go visit is Long creek falls. Just a tip to let you know that in order to get there do you have to drive on a long rough gravel road for about 10 miles off of the main road. We did it in a minivan but we took our time. It was well worth the trip. The road is easier coming in to the falls from the west. When we left the Falls we ended up going to the east and the road was a lot worse but you have to go slow. We didnt spend a lot of time at Morganton point but it is a very pretty lake and since it was summer we were glad that we had air-conditioning hooked up to shore power. We stayed at lot 18 right beside the restroom and showers. We will probably go there again someday. One of the employees there even brought me firewood after I paid him and the price was very reasonable. I think I paid five dollars for the bundle of firewood.
