I really love the U.S. Park Service and Forestry Campgrounds. They are easy to reserve and are usually well maintained. This campground was by far the most primitive one that i have stayed to date. That was fine for me since I was tent camping and came prepared. There is no front gate to check in, you just go to your site and set up. The bathrooms and showers were old but maintained and clean. The scenery was great and there was a hiking trail. There were more campers than I would have expected for a Monday check-in. I had very good phone reception (AT&T). A sign on the road coming in indicated it was part of the Appalachian Trail.

The only problem I had was the noise level. People were talking loud, late into the night. Since there is no "quiet time" like is posted in State Parks, there wasn't much I could do about it. The "host" couple didn't do anything about it.

Enjoyed the fact that the whole loop was for tent camping only. (Tho the camp host generator was running much of the evening.)

Wooded campground. Sites are not level for vehicles but they are large and private. We stayed here to go to Gettysburg.

Beautiful campground. My site was perfect: nice flat tent pad, adequate parking, close proximity to the shower/bathhouse. Sites were spaced so that there was ample room without feeling crowded. A great feature of this park is that there is an onsite firewood location. The wood is available for you to get what you need with payment on a volunteer, honor system. It was great! Lots of shade, Just a great place to spend one night, as I did, or to plan several days. I was enroute to a seasonal job so was unable to take advantage of all that the park has to offer but hope to have the opportunity to return. Thank you

Although it rained the whole weekend while we were there the park was beautiful. some of the trails had no mud because they were on hills up the mountain and the rain water ran into the woods

The dense forest and the site on the hill had a good atmosphere, and above all, the site gap was wide and clean. But it's a shame that it doesn't open even in the winter.

Quiet location, off the beaten path. The saw mill is neat to see and there are a few trails onsite. Other than that there isn’t much to do at the campground, but Cunningham Falls St Park is only a few miles away.

Loved. Loved. Loved our time at Owens. The campsites were great. The hosts were friendly and helpful. And the weather was perfect. Highly recommend this campground!

We really loved it at Owens Creek! The camp-hosts were very nice. They give you your space but are there for you if you need them. The campsites were spacious, you can see the other sites thru the trees but you have privacy. The bathrooms were kept clean, plenty of hot water for showers, well maintained sites, and fresh split firewood available for a small donation. Totally worth it. I thought I saw a baby Copperhead near our fire pit, they came right over and searched the area, it was just a salamander but they still searched around to reassure me. Owens Creek is in the heart of Catoctin so just a quick drive to the major trails and falls. I highly recommend Owens Creek Campground.

Its a beautiful campground with nicely maintained sites. The hikes are great in the park and the visitors center helpful with not only hiking information, but also other activities in the area.
