We stumbled upon the Catoctin National Park while we were on a road trip and decided to check out their campgrounds. Not only was there availability, but also the Park Ranger who assisted us was wonderful. He helped us create our account, book our site, led us to the campground so we wouldn't get lost, and gave us directions to town where we could grab a quick bite. Campground had firewood, showers, and toilets. The campsites were very well maintained. We would stay again.

A very quiet campground. Firewood is provided with a request for a donation. The bathrooms had hot water and a shower.

This year has not been the best. Its a great campsite when taken care of but this year the camp hosts seem very lazy. They never clean up the sites after each camper, theres trash and burnt wood left over from the people who were there last, the wood that is delivered is left out in the rain and not tarped or quartered (even though there is a tarp in plain sight right behind the wood shed for that purpose). Youre expected to pay $5.00 for wood, which is fine, but this year its rained a lot, so the wood has always been soaking wet. Its almost impossible to burn anything so you can forget about having a nice fire. Hopefully next year will be better.

Poor maintenance of bathrooms and sites were the rule at Owens Creek. You’re better off going to the nearby state park camping sites that are the opposite of the federally managed Owens.

The campground boasts of a swimming site but it is FOUR MILES AWAY! Also, I was suppose to have a prime site (#51) because its adjacent to a spring. THERE WAS NO SPRING! Drove 150 miles to get there. What a disappointment! Left a day early.

We love going to Owens Creek and go there often! It is a short drive from the city and a great secluded getaway. There is so much privacy in the hills and also great facilities with the bathroom and showers. Always our go-to and great to have "our campground".
