This is our second year taking our girl scouts to Misty Mount, renting out all lower site cabins and the lodge at the bottom of the hill. We had a great time and cabins were good. This year we did notice that bathrooms were not as clean as the previous year, we had one cabin invested with mice, one cabin roped off and not available, and the rangers acted like we were a huge inconvenience to their day. (Names maybe Aiden and Jessica?) We arrived with little kiddos in tow, after an hour plus drove who needed to use the latrine. We drove down to the site at 2:45 so the girls could go to the bathroom and the rangers blocked our drive so we could not go down to the site. (As of we had done something very wrong by arriving 15 minutes ahead of schedule.) They told us to back out and go until 3pm. We were eventually let on to the site at 3 pm (reservation time) but we felt very unwelcome. At check-in, I did ask about the ranger who was there last year (Adam maybe?) and they said he was gone. Too bad because he was so nice to the scouts and made us feel welcome to the site.) Last year the rangers spoke to the younger campers and explained the site. That was a nice thing. If I were managing this site I would encourage the rangers to be friendly with guests, and to say something encouraging or welcoming to young campers as they arrive. Maybe get AdamBack:) At least he was friendly. Otherwise the wilderness there is always perfect. Thank you for having our young campers.

Cabins were nice. The ceiling fans and lights were helpful. Time in the pool was nice after the car ride. A wagon might have been helpful to bring down the things that we had forgotten in the trailer since it wasn't conducive to tow the trailer to our cabins. The wood supplied was a nice treat and they did have some wagons for moving the wood. All in all we had a pleasant time though it was just a one night stay. We would have enjoyed staying longer had we had the time. Facilities were clean and pleasant.

Beautiful American Chestnut log cabins built in 1937 by the WPA. The camp is a Maryland Treasure and the staff are very helpful. Thanks to Thomas we now have a greater appreciation for the role of fungi in the forest.
