While Santa Barbara Canyon is still gorgeous, cows are allowed to graze the and have destroyed some if the vegetationAlso, RVs get away with running their generators after 10 pm

I love Santa Barbara CG and have been there many times over the years. My family and I were shocked and distressed because there were no warning signs that the 1 available drinking water hydrant in the campgrounds had not received testing results and shouldn't be used for drinking. We are hoping that non of us get sick because we filled up a gallon jug and drank most of it. When I went to refill the jug the next morning the camp host informed me that we should not drink the water. Please rectify this situation immediately. Why was the water not tested before the summer season?

We stayed in site 13 and the description states it will accommodate 40ft, it WILL NOT. We are luck we had a 19 ft bumper pull and a jeep, it fit perfect. The camp host was very helpful and friendly. The campground and vaulted toilets were clean. The water is NOT working so make sure you have plenty of water. (June 2023)

Santa Barbara Canyon Campground is a true gem. The sites are all good. There was a problem with the water system in the campground. No drinking water! It would have been nice to know that before we got there. Overall though its a great place to camp and enjoy.

This is one of our favorite established camp spots in NM. Well maintained. Mostly level spots. Great access to trails and streams. Generally quiet and respectful groups come here.
Been here many times over many years.
Due to fires there was a late season opening and therefore no camp host.
I made reservations and showed up to find my site with someone else’s name on it. Fortunately other family members from out group had arrived the day before and snagged a FF site so we ended up staying there with no problems. The other people never showed up at our site nor the site across from it that was also reserved. The contract cleaning and over site crew stopped by on Sunday and I told them the story. Not a site in the whole place had my name on it yet I had a receipt to show them and a reservation number. I was not on their list at all. Makes me nervous about using the reservation system. Hope it works for Labor Day.

Beautiful and quiet campsite at the end of a dead-end road in the forest. Hikes up into the mountains. Stream runs through the property. Camp host Bruce was very hospitable.

Beautiful place to camp. Sites are spread out enough for plenty of privacy. Will definitely be back. Only negative was a group of cows got into the campground. They were up all night bellowing and eating in and around the campsites. Had one licking or chewing on our RV at 6am.
