Camped her many times. I like the current hosts. Super green due to all the rains. Nice to have water back on in the campground.Great being close to Sipapu. Hummingbirds galore. Busy Friday and Saturday but quiet the rest of the time. Love the creek and river. Great place to have a fire in the pit...gets cool at night...50's in August so it is welcome relief from the inferno elsewhere.Great pines and incredible aspens. Lots of new growth which is welcome from the other years when new growth was scarce.Nice having internet at Sipapu nearby though I kept online time to a minimum. Had a lot of meals in camp but really enjoyed a hot brat and beer at Sipapu. Wow is their fudge good made by a local..and I usually avoid fudge. Good trout stream nearby. Cute chipmunks and squirrels who are bold. Good place for dogs but they must be leashed. We use a tent and cots. Great having breakfast oatmeal and coffee as you wake up to cool weather. Not so sure I would like the campground if it was raining but then again, we use a tent. Lots of good hike trails nearby....easy or super hard so something for everyonel Kids will like. Couple of Steller Jays roam around...noisy...great looking bird. Such a great campground.

We stayed at site 19, which is right next to the stream. The campground is absolutely beautiful. During monsoon season it rains nearly everyday, so bring lots of tarps. The rain also brings bugs, so bring bug spray as well. The stream next to the campground meets up with the river - thats just a 3-5 minute walk and its worth checking out. Theres also a large meadow and trail inside the campground. The camp hosts were friendly, but the vault toilet was out of toilet paper most of our stay. Sipapu ski resort is a 5 minute drive from the campground and theyve got ice, beer, food and a food truck. You cant beat the scenery or remoteness of this campground; highly recommend!

So beautiful. We camped in spot #18 & #19 which easily connected together and they were so spacious and open, also had little trails down to the creek. Camp site was quite and camp hosts were friendly.

We booked our campsite the week before arrival so there were only 2 sites available. I looked at aerial photos and thought this site might have good birding possibilities. The host couple helped sign us in. They were very friendly (from Texas) and we talked about the process you go through to get a host assignment. There were no suitable tent areas and we pitched our 3-person tent on the asphalt behind the car. It worked great, no worries! Many campgrounds squeeze as many campers in as possible, but at Agua Piedra the sites are spread out, much to our liking. I always try to get a site on the outside of a loop thinking the birding is better.

campsite #19 is not as long as listed, with a washout area that kept us from pulling all the way in. We were able to get out trailer off the street barely. Camp Host told us she has been requesting maintenance as well as changes to the website to make many sites listed smaller as too many people book only to find the driveways are not as long as listed, just like our site. Too bad, it is almost perfect otherwise!

Beautiful area, large trees, big campsites with open space in-between. Found a geo cache up the hill on the back side (kids loved it). Road is far enough away and traffic is fairly light so not an issue. Older style out houses, but clean and well taken care of.

It was the last weekend, so things were slowing down. Had a lovely time
