This is a sweet little campground with 71 sites; three loops total (A, B, and C.) It was one of the most quiet campgrounds we have stayed in. Each site has a nice picnic table fire pit and/or charcoal grill (we had both.) The bathrooms are flush toilets and there is a grey water sink to wash your dishes. There are no showers but a water fountain and water bottle fill station across from the bathrooms. The only unfortunate part of our stay was the sprinklers the park employees turned on each afternoon, keeping the campsites muddy and wet. We did ask if they could turn off the sprinklers but were told they had to water (water a campsite?) We were tent camping so this was highly inconvenient. The campers next to us pulled up, took a look at their soggy campsite, and left. We highly recommend hiking the Grand Wash trail along with the offshoot to the arch which is more rigorous, but well worth the effort. Overall, we would stay here again. We came here in the Spring; our friends who came the previous Fall did not have any issues with sprinklers (and they were also in a camper :-)

This a wonderful campground in the middle of orchards and within walking distance to fresh pie and cinnamon rolls daily. What's not to love? The only thing to be careful of is your site might be in the path of the flash floods that come through in monsoon season. Six inches of water and red Utah mud leaves quite a mess. Be aware of this and pick up your things if there is even a chance of rain. This won't stop me from coming back, however. This is my new favorite campground...so far!

Delightful campground with sites scattered in the cottonwood trees, complete with visiting deer. Great location for exploring the park. Campground hosts were friendly and helpful. The fruit pies at the Gifford House are not to be missed.

Lovely shaded campground, close to Giffords, next to the orchards, and right off the beginning of the scenic drive. Sites are well-spaced apart, mostly level, and pretty accurate for length so make sure you choose carefully if you have a bigger rig. Deer wander through the campground a lot, and I had the "boys club" of eight bucks grazing their dinner my first evening!

Fruita was just as other reviewers promised - peaceful, clean, and beautiful. We spent 4 nights there. The orchards, deer, and fruit pies at the Gifford house make it a very unique and special place. There was a kind of communal feeling; campers were friendly and greeted each other and shared information about hiking and sightseeing opportunities. There was a bin where you could leave leftover firewood or pick some up for free. The orchard workers would leave trimmed branches there, too.

The only drawback was the lack of enforcement of the quiet hours. Although MOST of the campers were quiet and considerate and settled down early, several parties arrived late at nigh during our stay. We could hear them pounding stakes and slamming car doors. One family let their screaming kids run around until very late. One large group took the two campsites directly behind us and proceeded to set up 7 tents at 10:30 p.m. They should have been in the group campground. So the one improvement I would suggest is that they limit arrivals to a certain time, say, 8 p.m. Enforcement of the quiet hours would also help. This is why I give it 4 stars instead of 5. But in the context of everything that is special and wonderful about Capitol Reef, this problem was not a deal breaker for us.

Too many individual campfires create an awful lot of smoke late into the night.
