Great campground. Awesome location for visiting Capitol Reef -- a phenomenal National Park. Lots of shade, so if one is relying on sunshine for solar charging, pay attention to your spot and be prepared with a generator as a fall-back. Restrooms were clean and kept that way. Camphost (Tracey) was amazing...kept a good idea on everything going on in the campground and made sure everyone was following the rules (parking, generator hours, etc.). She walked the campground several times a day and was available for questions, requests, etc.

Very nice treed campground with views of red cliffs all around. Short walk to the Cohab Canyon trailhead across the street and at the start of the scenic drive. Busy - hard to get a reservation so plan ahead or look for a cancellation.

Loop C location was great. However, the bathrooms/toilets were in poor shape. Also, no cell service in the whole area.

We stayed at Fruita Campground from March 17 through March 23, 2024 in two sites: C Loop 66 and 62. We love this campground because we can hike right from our campsite and it is an easy walk to the visitor center. When we visited, Capitol Reef had had a 6 inch snow the day before so most trails and the hike to the visitor center were muddy for a day or so. The scenic drive was also closed for a day, but reopened the next day. Capitol Gorge and Grand Gulch roads were still closed, but you could still hike into them. All beautiful hikes. The Gifford House pies are an additional bonus for us! Always yummy. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Nice campground with a laid back vibe. A few hiking options right from camp which is a big plus.

Awesome setting for camping out. One improvement would be to have firewood available for late arrivals.

The campground was beautiful and well maintained, lots of grass, easy access to the river and amazing scenery. Would stay here again!

Nicely laid out loops and sites, mostly spaced very well. No hook ups, but water readily available and solar worked well. Beautiful area, lots to explore. And good walking trails for dogs too. Be sure to get the cinnamon rolls and some pies!

I was disappointed that the generator hours were through the dinner/campfire hour from 6-8pm and again in the morning. Immediate neighbors had their extremely loud generator going, as they gathered 4 sites away with family. I finally went down after 1-1/2 hrs to let them know it was really putting a damper on our campfire and since they were not at the site, maybe they had forgotten it. Eventually they came back over to shut off after we headed to bed. At the next state park, generator hours were from 1-4pm, when peeps are often away, I certainly appreciated that.

Very nicely appointed campground. However, when we arrived (October 31) they were in the process of shutting some water spigots and bathrooms down for the cold season. We were in loop C and it took us a long time to figure out that water was only available at the entrance of loops A and B. Signs indicating seasonal shut downs and where to locate necessary resources are needed at this time of year. We helped several other campers find what they needed when the same thing happened to them.

We have been RVing since 2007, and this was possibly the most pleasant campground we have experienced. The lovely fruit and cottonwood trees, the lush grass, and the friendly deer made for a wonderful ambiance. And then there were the Gifford pies .....!

Fruita is a beautiful campsite in a canyon that glows golden during sunset. Its in an orchard so if you come during cherry or peach blossom season, youll literally be sleeping under the blooming trees. The camp is right in the middle of the breath-taking Capitol Reef Park which offers enough hikes to stay for a week or more. The Fruita camp hosts were wonderful and extremely responsible and accommodating during the confusing early days of corona virus. Thank you!
