This is a gorgeous campground. Large spaces under a canopy of shade trees. Paved level sites. A nice walking path along a creek. We saw mule deer in the evening. Walk to the homestead near by to see horses and purchase our that was quite good. By far one of the best parks we have visited.

What a lovely spot to enjoy the park! The hosts were great, and I was able to star gaze in the amphitheater area. It was wonderful to camp among the orchards with the curious mule deer wandering about.

Camp sites are close together, but it is a great campground. Bathrooms are nice, clean, and heated. Hosts were nice.

This campsite was gorgeous. I wish we had more than one night to stay. Its like a little oasis at the bottom of a canyon. Theres the river running through beautiful trees. Theres an orchard. Theres even an orchard where you can pick your own fruit. We saw mule deer and marmots around the camp and theres a nice trail that leads to the visitor center. A word of advice, if youre in an RV, you cannot run your generator unless you are in the RV only Loop C and its quite warm in the summertime. But truly the Area is just beautiful.

We arrived just as the blooms were beginning in the orchards, and the apple pies were warm at the Gifford House. Hiked several of the trails which are fairly well marked. Camping is without amenities so make sure you have water for your stay or fill your tank at the dump station before you park ( there is potable water there).

Beautiful campground within nature
Interesting presentation of Capitol Reef’s origin from ranger Kate
Cohab hike from the campground worthwhile
Accompanied by nosy deer

Fruita campground is beautiful and green with a herd of gentle deer meandering through the grounds. The setting is picturesque. There are even flush toilets and a dump station. AND, cinnamon rolls and fabulous pie for sale. You can take several hikes right from the campground. Our favorite was the Cohab Trail. Other trails such as Cassidy Arch are nearby. There are interesting ranger-led events every night in an onsite amphitheater. We learned about the geology of the area as well as the sky and the birds. A great experience, if you are lucky enough to score a campsite!

Lovely campground, but seems to have been built before RVs were invented. Sites are smaller, often not very level, acute angles making backing in difficult.
Facilities seem well-taken-care-of -- clean and well-functioning

Got a last-minute two day reservation due to a cancellation. The site was clean and the host was visible in case we had a need. We enjoyed hiking and driving around in the area, the views are beautiful. We love the added bonus of the Gifford House pies. We will be back.

The campground was convenient to explore the park, however the spaces are pretty close together. The people in the site next to us even pitched their tent into the space directly behind our site parking area! Bathrooms were close and clean.

Such a great experience here I almost don't want to share, can't we keep this campground a secret?
Only for insiders ;)
Everything was wonderful. The trees, the animals, the pies! You can not go wrong if you're lucky enough to get a site here!

Really wished the campground store was open and selling cinnamon rolls and other items during our stay before 3/14

I absolutely loved the Fruita campground! Capitol Reef is fairly remote, but once I was there, it was absolutely beautiful. The campground itself was extremely clean, and I was very happy to find a bathroom with running water and flushing toilets! The campground hosts were nice and helpful, and even came to check on me at the end of the day to make sure I had made it back from hiking as I was traveling alone. The only downside is there are not separate areas for tent-campers and RV-campers, so you have a little noise at night when people fire up their generators, but it wasn't too bad. I would highly recommend this campground and Capitol Reef!
