This campground was literally a refreshing oasis in the high desert. We loved the shade, the clean bathrooms, the amazingly quiet campsites , the proximity to a few hikes and the fresh peach pie at The Gifford House.

Beautiful campground, wish I had stayed more than 1 night. Camp host was awesome.

This is a gorgeous campground. Large spaces under a canopy of shade trees. Paved level sites. A nice walking path along a creek. We saw mule deer in the evening. Walk to the homestead near by to see horses and purchase our that was quite good. By far one of the best parks we have visited.

What a lovely spot to enjoy the park! The hosts were great, and I was able to star gaze in the amphitheater area. It was wonderful to camp among the orchards with the curious mule deer wandering about.

Camp sites are close together, but it is a great campground. Bathrooms are nice, clean, and heated. Hosts were nice.

This campsite was gorgeous. I wish we had more than one night to stay. Its like a little oasis at the bottom of a canyon. Theres the river running through beautiful trees. Theres an orchard. Theres even an orchard where you can pick your own fruit. We saw mule deer and marmots around the camp and theres a nice trail that leads to the visitor center. A word of advice, if youre in an RV, you cannot run your generator unless you are in the RV only Loop C and its quite warm in the summertime. But truly the Area is just beautiful.

We arrived just as the blooms were beginning in the orchards, and the apple pies were warm at the Gifford House. Hiked several of the trails which are fairly well marked. Camping is without amenities so make sure you have water for your stay or fill your tank at the dump station before you park ( there is potable water there).

Fruita campground is beautiful and green with a herd of gentle deer meandering through the grounds. The setting is picturesque. There are even flush toilets and a dump station. AND, cinnamon rolls and fabulous pie for sale. You can take several hikes right from the campground. Our favorite was the Cohab Trail. Other trails such as Cassidy Arch are nearby. There are interesting ranger-led events every night in an onsite amphitheater. We learned about the geology of the area as well as the sky and the birds. A great experience, if you are lucky enough to score a campsite!

Had a great campground experience within walking distance to trails and Gifford House fruit pies! It was also easy access to Capitol Reef scenic drives and hiking trails. Camp sites were reasonably level with gravel surface, surrounded by stunning landscape. Flush restrooms were convenient and clean. Would stay here again!

The Gifford house was right there for pie & cinnamon rolls if youre there early. Camp was clean & quiet. Wish we had booked more days there.

Overall I would say its decent, and its very much out of the way unless youre going to Colorado. The campsites aren't very deep. Some of the campsites (like ours) are set up backward with the table and fire ring on the wrong side. Cant understand why they did that. Then on the other side of the road they are normal. The bathrooms were very clean but no hand dryer or paper towels. No cell service within 5 miles so make sure your set before you go in. The camp host posted the weather forecast on whiteboard which was nice.

We enjoyed the Geology talk in the afternoon and the ability to get WiFi at the Visitor Center. The facilities were very nice, the tradition of pies for sale at the Griffin House was a very nice touch. I would have liked to have seen how the irrigation was done both by the Ancient Dwellers and the recent Mormon farmers.

Wonderful campground. Close to river which the kids loved exploring. The bakery at Gifford House was wonderful. Great nearby hiking. Restrooms were very clean. Only issue: all places in the park that sell firewood close at 4:30 p.m. We rolled in to camp at 4:45 p.m. Thankfully the campers next to us shared some firewood with us.

Lovely campground, but seems to have been built before RVs were invented. Sites are smaller, often not very level, acute angles making backing in difficult.
Facilities seem well-taken-care-of -- clean and well-functioning

Got a last-minute two day reservation due to a cancellation. The site was clean and the host was visible in case we had a need. We enjoyed hiking and driving around in the area, the views are beautiful. We love the added bonus of the Gifford House pies. We will be back.

The campground was convenient to explore the park, however the spaces are pretty close together. The people in the site next to us even pitched their tent into the space directly behind our site parking area! Bathrooms were close and clean.

Such a great experience here I almost don't want to share, can't we keep this campground a secret?
Only for insiders ;)
Everything was wonderful. The trees, the animals, the pies! You can not go wrong if you're lucky enough to get a site here!
