Beautiful setting! You look right at the fruit trees, near the river, and with gorgeous rock formations rising behind you. The spot was spacious and clean. Deer were lingering nearby and an elk too. I loved the spot ! My only complaint (as an RVer) is that they limit what time you can use your generator to 8-10AM and 5-7PM. This would not maybe be an issue in the summer, but it was very cold at night while we were there and our batteries died both nights trying to keep up. We got a warning note on our truck when we went overtime the first night (the hours are not posted anywhere so we assumed 10Pm ) and a knock on our door the next night at 7 pm sharp to make sure we were going to shut it off. Yet they had construction equipment noisily working during the day. I would love to stay here again in later spring or summer. Im sure it would be beautiful and the cold nights would not be an issue

The campground is very well laid out with generous spaces. Having the campground as all reservation made for a much less crowded and hectic experience as compared to an earlier visit. No line of RVs trying to get in.

Not the best experience! Bathrooms were clean enough, it would be very nice if the camp host at least wiped down the tables between campers. Its like checking in to a Hotel and using the same sheets as the person before you. Here is the Big Deal, they won't open the Group Campground! So that put a family group of about 60, into 6 separate spots with 3 tents per spot and countless cars. Then at night the family is all together at one site and loud enough to be heard all the way back to US 24. And they stayed up with the little girls screaming at the top of their lungs till after 11pm. Then at 7:50am one camper starts up their Generator, sounds like it was from the 60's before mufflers. They ran the generator long enough for their electric rice cooker to make rice for breakfast. Then within 5 minutes they are on the road with bowls of rice! Not Lying! Why have rules when they aren't enforced?

Looooved staying here. Peaceful, beautiful, roomy sites. Loved the hikes right from the campground. Enjoyed eating the pies and cinnamon rolls from the Gifford house while watching the horses graze. Plan to go back. One of my favorite campgrounds.

We enjoyed our stay in Fruita. The facilities were well-maintained and surroundings beautiful. The pies were delicious and it was great to be able to start a hike right from the campground.

Nice, refreshing CG in the middle of the desert. AB loops are quiet and mostly tents. C loop is mostly RV.

Neighbors with very irritating generators...very loud (and obviously cheap). Two couples with over $200k worth of equipment (truck with bed topper and toad + suv with trailer) all packed into one lot, yet they were too cheap to go for the respectable generators. Thankfully they followed posted (four!) hours of gennie use while plenty of others did not. Camp host will enforce hours if you ask, but hours are not posted at CG.

Fruita Campground is probably better for the RVer than it is for the tent camper. We had site 54. There is no tent pad so we had to set up on the grass. We prefer a sand or pea gravel tent pad that is level, as opposed to lumpy grass. There was a giant hose running through our site so we had to watch where we walked so as to not trip on that. The campground was quiet and peaceful, which was a good thing, considering there is absolutely no privacy in this campground. Site 54 has no shade, which was not a problem for us, other than it makes for a toasty warm tent in the morning! The price of $20 was about as much as I'd be willing to pay for this very average campground. If I came to the area again, I would probably go out on BLM land and find a much prettier dispersed site for free to avoid the hassle of reserving a site online. For all the hype this campground receives, it was not all that impressive, but it got the job done for the night we were there.

Love this campground and glad we are now able to reserve spots.
Do wish there were electric hookups.
The ranger talks were excellent, particularly Lori Rome’s mountain lion presentation!

Cleanest bathrooms on our trip. Great hikes very close by. Wished we had stayed more days.
