Nice site for our two small tents. Tree and on the side of the open area. Easy to move gear from the car.

We love this campground, and are grateful for the tent only sites. One suggestion we have is to create a couple of bike-only sites in that tent area...there is plenty of space and it's tough if you are cycle touring to go to a different destination if there is no room. We ended up (happily) sharing our site with a couple who were in that situation. As we cycle tour ourselves, we know it can be challenging to determine when you arrive somewhere, so that would be super helpful!

Fruita Campground felt like camping in a desert dream. Its tucked between red cliffs and lush orchards, so youve got this amazing mix of rugged and peaceful. The site was spacious and green, with deer casually walking by in the evenings. No showers, but clean restrooms and drinking water made things easy. And being so close to trails and that little Gifford House pie shop? Huge bonus. Easily one of the most charming campgrounds Ive ever stayed at.

Stay here!! Its a beautiful campground with orchards and deer all around. Best part is camping in the park right next to the scenic route. Theres a little house where they sell pie, thats a must! Go before you 11am because they will sell out. Everyone is so nice and this campground is extremely family friendly. I stayed at campground 47 in loop b. Would not reccomend during rainy season since itll most likely be all muddy. Lower campgrounds are a lot nicer and grassy. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and I will definitely be back.

The tent area is not next to your car. You have to carry your stuff. It is next to the toad do it is not quite. It should be in the other side if the campground

Fruita Campground was possibly the best experience I've ever had at a National Park campground,. The camp was pristinely clean, all the guest were friendly and quiet, not to mention the surrounding nature was gorgeous and picturesque. The rest of our stay their was amazing and all the rangers and staff were incredibly helpful and nice. I can't wait to come back to Fruita and stay for much longer!

The Fruita campground was in a nice location, close to the river and orchards as well as the historic buildings. We hiked a nice trail to the North and South overlooks which were very scenic and right across from the campground.

Amazing hosts! We showed up with only one night booked and were able to ask every morning and stay an extra two night. Great location to see the park.

Fruita/Capital Reef campgrounds are spectacular. The off-road trails are worth spending and extra day to explore. I wish the Recreation officials would reconsider their drone policy. Licensed and experienced drone operators/professional photographers should be given some access to fly in the park under supervision or approval.

I like this particular walk in campsite quite a bit. Large tree plus a large rock on one side.

Fantastic time. There's both a campfire and grill at most sites. The space we stayed was on the edge of a grassy field, under the shade of a massive Fremont Cottonwood tree. Our campsite was against the main road, but no cars bothered us and we were able to sleep well the whole night. The local deer came around sundown and sunup to graze in the field and were beautiful to watch. The campground is surrounded by orchards (some of which you can pick the fruit from) and was just a short walk to the Gifford House and a day-use picnic area.

Our first night in the walk in camp site was fine. After that it was terrible. A large party moved in to all of the neighboring walk in sites, but they chose to congregate right next to us. Around 25-30 hung out in the site next to us. Their tables, chairs and many tents were lodged right in the adjacent site. for two nights they blatantly violated the 8 person per site rule without any intervention of the camp host who initially was oblivious to their violations. They belonged in a group site but instead abused the system and turned the walk in area into their group site. When I complained to the camp host 2x, he apparently did talk to them but they were still noisy all day and after 10 p.m. both nights. they also kept walking through our campsite to the outhouse. If a camp host is competent, he or she must walk the campground at 10 p.m. to monitor the noise and advise people about the rule. At this point, I would advise people NOT TO CAMP AT FRUITA, in view of its close layout and lack of noise enforcement. The one positive were the geology talk by the retired teacher and the nightly ranger programs. Of course we went to these in part to avoid our noisy neighbors.

Loved this campsite, it was very pleasant to be camping under beautiful trees in the small valley where the campsite sits, in Capitol Reef national park. We had a walk up tent site, it was great and still close to our car so we could easily get things we needed.

I love this place. Good evening ranger programs, too.
A surprisingly peaceful campground. The tent only sites were wonderful. Plenty of space between each "site" and site 47 had a tree with plenty of shade. I saw lots of marmots in the group site and other places in the Fruita area, so just make sure your food is secure. I'd camp here again in a heartbeat.
Clean bathrooms and quiet camp. Of course great hiking and scenery!

Great NPS campsite. The walk in sites do get a bit windy in the Spring.
The Gifford House store is a major bonus. Their pies and cinnamon rolls make for great breakfasts and lunches. Just get there early before they sell out!
