Great stay at a beautiful location. Level spots for tents, vans and trailers. Bathrooms are clean and the host helpfully. Would recommend!

Great place to base out of while exploring Capitol Reef NP. Nice to have hiking trails right out of the park. You are also close to the Gifford House so you can get your pies early!

We had a good stay except for one issue. A tour bus on two nights of our stay was allowed to reserve a few sites near our campsite. The large group of people and the bus engine running in a non generator part of the campground ruined the wilderness experience. This should not be allowed to happen. There is a group site for them.

The Fruita campground is not only beautiful, but quiet, and accessible to many hiking trails. It's a short ditance from the Gifford House which serves up delicious pies and cinnamon rolls. It's not unusual to hike and not see other hikers within the park. One of the least traveled trails, the Frying Pan, is challenging, but worth your time. The park is not only stunning but quiet. A must see!

Beautiful site! Felt very comfortable and spacious. Lots of families in surrounding sites and there are two clean bathrooms nearby. The parking spot is large and we had trees for shade. Lots of flat ground for setting up a tent. Lots of friendly deer present in the fruita area. We had a whole family of deer walk right past us during dinner.

Lovely campground. Enjoyed being close to the tent campers. Nice views of the cliffs.

The campsites are very spacious and we felt quite secluded even when the campground was full. We really enjoyed the petroglyphs - and we found if you look closely there are more there than you first see! This location also gave us a good jumping off point to explore even outside of the park ie Escalante- Grand Staircase. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Fruita is a lovely place for a campground with the surrounding cliffs and mature trees. The facilities are clean and the grounds are well kept. Our camp host was so helpful and pleasant. We would definitely stay here again when we are in the area. And the fruit pies on sale there are the best!

Thanks so much for offering the cancellation option for poor planners like me. It worked well and the campground was very nice.

Big camp sites, beautiful surroundings. My tent was surrounded by deer in the morning when I woke up. The lower elevation means that the nights do not cool off as much in the summer vs. higher elevation parks like Bryce Canyon. Common facilities were very nice and clean, and trash and recycling were excellent. Lots of tent campers and not all RVs.

This is a wonderful campground next door to some of the prettiest hikes Capitol Reef has to offer. However, this site (B40) is not appropriate for tent camping. There is no tent pad, the area surrounding the parking bay is not leveled, and it has no grass or gravel, only red dirt which turns into mud very quickly. Additionally, the site is downhill from the surrounding sites so any amount of rain will turn the site (including the blacktop) into a mud bath. At the same time, it must be a good RV camping spot as the bay is huge with lots of shade during most of the day.

Excellent Campground and excellent site. The site had shade most of the day. It was directly to the walk in tent sites. Space enough for us and the RV.

Our first trip to Utah from KS with 23ft TT - 15 days; Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Capitol Reef NP, Arches NP, Dinosaur NM, ….the Fruita campground would be our favorite for the combination of campsite, access to hiking, history, ranger programs, and fewer people/quiet too. And great hosts too….

The campsites were near the orchards and restrooms were clean. We could see fall colours throughout the campground. The peach pie from Gifford Homestead was delicious. We could stargaze and the views at sunrise were good too.

Very tame deer were enjoying the nearby apple orchard, although it wasn't open for picking by two-legged creatures. Pretty campground in the "oasis" and locally made, individual pies for sale in the nearby store. "My my, it's time for pie!" is their slogan. A downside were the biting flies, unexpected in mid September.

Campsite location was excellent, pies sold at Gifford house were very tasty! Apricots were in season in Fruita when we were there, great fun picking and eating them.
Really special experience camping at Fruita. Quiet, clean and right in the Capitol Reef canyon. Fun for kids to bike ride. Next to Gifford House store where you can buy pies and cinnamon rolls (get their first thing in the am)! There is a dump station and fresh water filling station. Our site pad was paved. Nice table and fire pit. Trail from campsite goes all the way to visitor center as well as along river. Can’t wait to go back.
