Excellent camping area. It is great to have the contrast of the lush green Fruita area against the harsh rocky desert. I like that the camp area is irrigated and that there is some grass. Sadly we saw a car in front of us run over a marmot in a 'slow marmot crossing area'. They didn't brake or stop to check on the animal, which was needlessly killed. Apart from that we had a great stay and enjoyed the evening geology talk at the amphitheater

Absolutely gorgeous. Right in the heart of Capitol Reef NP. The little shop selling pies from the orchard is only a short walk away and the Visitor's Center one mile down the road. A good central spot to be!

Great spot with lots of space but you have to hike your stuff in further as it's shared parking with a few other spaces. In the section this looks like it was the best space bc it wasn't next to the road and had pretty good shade.

Fruita is a beautiful situated campground. Whether one will have a pleasant experience or not, greatly depends on the site. If one makes a reservation, chances are one doesn’t get a good site. Camp sites have little privacy and in loop A and B are often in dirt. I got a site trough reservation that got extremely muddy after a storm. I had to completely wash the tarp and tent, then pack it in wet.
Good

Fruita Campground is so beautiful, with lawn areas and convenient access to bathrooms and dishwashing facilities. Very close to Grand Wash and Capitol Gorge..... Deer wander freely, and fruit pies from heritage orchards!
Beautiful campground, park and setting. I only wish we could have taken advantage of one of the many open campsites, as we mistakenly booked a tent only site.

This is a lovely campground. Easy to find. Easy check-in. They even texted me when I was running late to see if I was still coming. I had a cart-in sight that was perfect. There were several deer and lots of birds. Stopped by the little country store for wood (NO ICE... GET THAT IN TOWN BEFORE YOU COME!!!!) and a perfect peach pie. The only odd thing was that they use sprinklers (I assume to keep the trees flourishing) throughout the open cart-in area. It did make muddy spots all over. Also, there is no decent cell reception in the park and none at all in the campground. I had to drive back to town to make a call (and get that darn ice). Capitol Gorge Trail is an easy and beautiful riverbed trail that goes on for miles. I hiked in about 2 of them which shook off most of the other people hiking the trail. Keep your eyes open for the Pioneer Register... It is easy to miss if you are not looking at the canyon walls. It is on your left. The gravel drive at the end of the scenic road to the trail head is absolutely spectacular. Wish I had had time to hike that instead of drive it. Most any car can do it, but it is narrow and has a lot of traffic. Go early! I also did Hickman's Bridge, and while it is a rather steep trail that I would call moderately strenuous, it was packed with people, many of whom never made it to the bridge. Though it is a lovely hike and the bridge is worth every step, the number of people (I did it later in the afternoon...therein lies the problem) made it hard to enjoy.Overall, I loved Capitol Reef and wish I had scheduled more time in the area. Next time!!!

The campsite was clean and quiet. It was beautiful. The bathrooms were clean and in working order. We used a tent camping site and the kids loved running around on the grass field. It is a beautiful campground and we'll definitely be back.
