This campground is crammed with tents and RVs. It is nice to stay in the park, but this is not the place for you if you want a bit of distance from your neighbors. Try to get a campsite closer to the river rather than backing up to the road. The facilities were clean and well maintained.

Beautiful, clean campground. Fire pits in perfect condition for cooking, parking was close(we booked a walk in site), bathrooms were clean (flush toilets), and the scenery was next level. Ill be going back.

It was a wonderful break from the heat! The fresh fruit and shade was a highlight. It was also nice to leave the car parked and hike and bike right from the campsite

The campground itself is in a beautiful area in the Capitol Reef National Park. I arrived at my campsite at 11:30 am and the sprinklers were on. I went out to explore and came back at 3:45 pm and sprinklers were still on. My camping site was saturated and muddy. No dry place to set up tent. The site next to mine, we shared the same Parking spot. Camp Hostess was off duty, so no resolution. I feel I had no other choice but to go somewhere else to sleep. So I was not even able to use my campsite, even though I was charged for it. There was no one to communicate with, and therfore no option of a drier campsite.

The site was very spacious. For a walk-in tent only site, it was not very many steps at all to get our gear and food onto the site. The campground is peaceful and the vibe is quiet and respectful in April. The bummer was the maintenance work right next to our site, the lack of water close by (the nearest spigot was out of service) and the removal of the gray water disposal at the restroom. I would recommend A or B loop.

lovely campground within the park’s Fruita Historic Village! short walking distance to the Gifford House (get there early for incredible pie before they sell out), walk along the Freemont River Trail/orchards, short walk to the Cohab Trailhead and/or the picnic area! picnic tables, real bathrooms w/soap + water, water fill stations. quaint and relaxing!

Had a great stay in the Fruita Campground. Capitol Reef is breathtaking and enjoyed both the sunrise and sunsets in the park. The campground was clean an quiet and would love to stay here again when Im back in Utah.

Site was a muddy mess. Appeared that virtually zero measures ever taken on the particular site (56) to lessen the effect of rain, like maybe a little gravel or aggregate of some sort. The trail along the Freemont River bordering the camp ground was a good example of the type of surface that could be applied to the bare mud areas of sites like 56 . It was no better than a Georgia red clay construction site. Ranger presentation was good, though.

The campground is spacious and all the sites are very nice! There are also bathrooms and water water available. The deer were also your best friends, as they would wander though the sites.

Fruita campground was spacious, calm, and so dark at night that we had great views of the stars. We loved walking to the Gifford House (where we purchased cinnamon rolls, pies, pancake mix, and syrups. The ranger programs at night were informative and fun.

Great views from the campground. My kids loved the open space and the horses by the barn.

This is one of the best campgrounds in the NPS system. Right next to orchards, the Fremont River, the Gifford House (try the cinnamon rolls), and one of the best trailheads in the park, you can’t go wrong with any of the loops. If sites aren’t open at first glance, then try, try again!

Great campsite, loop C. Clean bathrooms too. Great views of surrounding area. Fresh pies and pastry at Gifford House every morning.

It was a unique experience camping amongst fruiting trees in an orchard. Clean campsite, great campground host, and proximity to both the Cohab Canyon Trail and fresh cinnamon rolls were added bonuses.

Wonderful campground location - recommend the walk-in tent sites (particularly Loop C, spot 56) as they have gorgeous, uninterrupted views of red rock features directly behind them. The Fruita Historic area is lovely for a family visit and has plenty of attractions for all interests. Great starting spot for many day hikes in the area as well. Bathroom facilities were clean and uncrowded; filtered water was readily available.

We stayed in tents and it was a nice site. We stayed up stargazing and it surreal with the canyon all around us.

I am very familiar with Capitol Reef and Fruita Campground. They are my preferred place to get away to when I can get a few days off from work. Spring and Fall are great there. Summer is just too hot. The park has great views and lots of trails with varying distances and levels of difficulty. I especially like that it is enough out of the way that it does not yet get as crowded as some of the other parks.

Campsites are pretty spread out from each other. Try to pick a site with shade as some of them dont have any. Loved our stay there and cant wait to come back.
