The campsite is terrific good. Clean and convenient and quiet. Deer family give this site more interesting things especially to kids. I would give this campsite more than five stars if the scenic drive keeps open.

Nice well kept campground with lots of shade trees. The grounds are irrigated from the nearby river which brings lots of deer in the evening and early morning. The song birds in the trees might wake you up early!

Very nice tenting campground. It was the perfect place for our family group with young children. There are places to walk to or hike to right from the campground and many ways to enjoy nature. It was quiet and family friendly.

Very nice location and facilities. Beautiful setting. The apple pie from the Gifford House was a bonus. Quick access to the Cohab Trail was very handy.

Lovely camp spot- it was quiet, the bathrooms were super clean and having the Gifford House right next store was an incredible perk. We hiked the Cohab Canyon Trail right from the campground with our two 5 year olds and 10 year old. We hope to return sometime in the fall to truly experience Capitol Reef and its beautiful orchards.

Camping at this campground was a good choice for getting around. Plenty of mule deer and turkey in the camp ground and surrounding orchards. Easy walk to orchards and store for excellent pies. Rained that night and the next day so didn’t get to hike the trails. Would definitely visit again?

Beautiful setting. Campground host was extremely nice. The reason for the poor review has to do with the condition of our site. There were strong rains approximately 1-2 weeks prior to our arrival which then made mowing the area difficult for a period of time. The week we got there it clearly could’ve been mowed but the service they contract with was on vacation. As a result it was incredibly overgrown. But worse, there was an infestation of flies that made the site almost uninhabitable. Our neighbors would tell us that they had a fly or two but couldn’t believe how bad our site was. We love Capitol Reef and we’ll be back but this was a difficult situation where we couldn’t even eat at the table provided.
The campground is absolutely beautiful! The only drawback for the specific site we were at was the couple of trees (which did not provide much shade) were waterlogged from the spring overfilling; however, the overall experience here was great!
Keep in mind there is no services here but what you get is a beautiful setting that rivals any campground. I consider it one of my favorite campgrounds. Campground hosts were friendly and kept thing organized. Ranger programs have started up and were excellent. I gained a few pound due to the pies, rolls and bread at the Gifford house. The night skies were some of the darkest I've ever seen and produced some great photographs.
Fruita is a great location for exploring Capitol Reef. A highlight for my kids was visiting the Gifford House next door to the campground and getting warm cinnamon rolls in the morning. The campground was clean, it was very quiet. Strolling the trails around the campground d and through the orchards was very nice. The only con was if you have a trailer you have to back in and the designated picnic table for each site was on the wrong side. So our trailer opened up to the other table that wasn't our own.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
