Nice campground near the river with spacious sites. The warm bathrooms with running water were lovely in the winter! The hike across the rode was wonderful and the historic home next door sells pies and cinnamon rolls in the mornings.

Beautiful site and close to the Fremont River. Enjoyed the grassy camping area instead of a tent pad. Loved waking up to see deer near our site and walking over to see the horses. So peaceful.

The campground was great. Internet was available only in part of the campground. The "back shop" close by was great!

Lovely site, outstanding views along the nearby Scenic Drive, quiet campground and clean washrooms (with electricity for hair dryers). Our only disappointment was that we came a week too early for the homemade pies, which we LOVE!

The Fruita campground is very well designed with excellent spacing of sites, especially in loops A and B. The access to potable water and a dump station is convenient (remember to pack your thief for access to non potable water) at the campground entrance. The bathrooms are well maintained and cleaned regularly with flush toilets, running water lavatories, and specific lavatories for washing dishes. All roads in the campground are paved, and all sites are level (side-to-side, manageable slope front-to-back) with asphalt pads. The Gifford Homestead is certainly worth a visit, especially to purchase one of their delicious fruit pies. The area within a 30 minute drive from the campground has numerous excellent hiking trails. Our favorites include the Grand Wash (recommend doing as a shuttle hike from Grand Wash to Cassidy Arch to Frying Pan Trail to Cohab Canyon Trail finishing at the Fruita campground - about 8.5 beautiful miles), Sheets Gulch Trail (excellent example of a slot canyon), Navajo Knobs Trail (escape the crowds going to Hickman Bridge Arch and get an excellent view of arch from above), and Cottonwood Wash Trail. Make sure you include an afternoon with the Ranger at the Amphitheater to hear about the geology of the area and continue up the Fremont River Trail to get a high-spot view of the campground and surrounding environs.

Easy in and out and great pie and cinnamon rolls at Giffords. Enjoyed two hikes right from the camp site and the scenic drive. Would stay there again. We were in site 28, loop B with no hookups.

The place is peaceful, with beautiful surrounding. Ranger evening programs are interesting. Really a good place to stay for one or several nights. We loved it.

This campground was amazing!! The sound of the river and the beautiful night sky put me right to sleep. It was so relaxing. Make sure if you want to have a fire, check in before 4 p.m. as the Gifford House is closed. Otherwise bring your own wood. Bathrooms were nice and clean.

An awesome surprise. Gorgeous location amidst the fruit trees. Spacious campsites although backwards compared to others meaning that the fire pit and picnic table were on the same side as the utilities (opposite side of the travel trailer door).

We found it odd to be in a national park that had watered grass - didn't seem particularily eco friendly.

Great campground in a spectacular location with wonderful hiking nearby. Tremendous for birdwatching too. Be sure to try the pie, but go early!

Beautiful spot. Lived being in the dappled shade. Great campground host. Restrooms very clean. And of course the pies were fabulous.

Wish we had stayed longer! The Fruita Campground, and Capitol Reef in general, was everyone's favorite stop on our Utah trip last week.

There are several great trails from the campground without the need to drive to trail heads! The campground is quiet with nice level spots that are double wide cement which is great when entering and exiting RV- no dragging in mud or dirt. It is an easy walk to the little store with baked goods although they run out early and we did not get to sample them. The visitor center has trail maps outside by the front door which is nice if you arrive after the center is closed. There is no need to check in when you have a campsite reserved- the tag is already on your spot on the day you arrive, We had an issue with our RV- lost back brakes/brake fluid. M and D in Bicknell UT was great! They ordered the part my husband thought was the problem and had us come the next day. Done with caliper and brake pad by 12 and they did not overcharge us! So grateful. It is difficult sometimes to negotiate without internet and cell. We have become so dependent on the internet. We stayed 3 nights in April. Sunny and nice during the day. Glad we stayed in the park as we could get parking with our rV when traveling inside the park early morning!
