It is a well-kept campground. We had a good experience. I need to mention, though, that the campsite we stayed at is a shared space, similar to a ranch. We parked up front and set up camp inside. However, there are a lot of spaces where parking is different at each site.

Excellent centralized location in the park. Pretty much guaranteed to see deer, we saw a ton. Most of the sites looked plenty roomy for large tents and shaded. Nice to be able to walk to the creek and to grab cinnamon rolls and pies in the morning!

Overall very pleasant, especially the evening presentation at the ampitheater. One remark though: we had a tent site but it was quite swampy to access it as the lawn was watered during the day apparently.

Fruita Campground was a clean, and well maintained space. I just used one of the drive up campsites and there were ample places to put down a tent. Each of the drive up sites had a sizable tree for shade, a picnic table and a grill. The camp hosts were very helpful and friendly. The scenery around the campsite is beautiful and there is lots of sky overhead for star gazing at night. Only drawback was that some of the campers did not respect quiet hours. A very nice experience.

The evening ranger programs were very interesting and informative. It made my stay at the park more enjoyable to learn more about its history. All the hikes in the park are great and each is unique in its own way--hike as much as you can!

Love Capitol Reef

We used tent spots 45 and 46, they had plenty of space, but limited shade. We were there in July so it was warm and we needed to sleep with the rain fly off so the tent was cool enough. Be ready for night time sprinkles so you can put your rain fly on quickly. Keep your food and trash safely away from deer and rodents, or they will get into it. I really like Capitol Reef because of hiking trails and not too many people. Cooling off in the stream by the campground was great.

Fruita is always great. Beware of many caterpillars in trees in May -- they were all over the tent.

My favorite campground in the world.

Fruits Campground had very clean, heated bathrooms. The sites were large and well marked. They had some tree coverage but not a lot of privacy. It would be a great campground to visit with kids. About half the campground had fires every night, so be prepared for a smoky night. The highlight of the campground was the Gifford house, which was right next door, where wood was $6, pies were $7.50, and Cinnamon Rolls were $4.

Nice campground! Came during weather in the shoulder season but would like to explore more sometime on the future. Fall would be nice with the orchards in bloom.

Clean and quiet. A great moderate hike to Hickman Bridge was a fantastic adventure. We will be back God willing :-)

Great campsite in an amazing park. Busy but not too noisy. Loved the nearby hikes (esp cohab Canyon and Hickman Bridge) and the fresh pie from the nearby Giford store. Really enjoyed the nightly ranger programme.
Pity there are no showers (not even in a nearby town)

The tent only area is odd. It requires parking and lugging one's gear to the end of a field where there are numbered fire pits and picnic tables, the nearest toilet is a pit toilet, while the bathrooms in the solo sites have both heat and running water.

We found Capitol Reef quaint and stunningly beautiful...though the over abundance of white settler narratives and absence of native narratives is disturbing.

Great campground; excellent location for most of our activities, namely hiking and taking in the sights! Facilities (restrooms and water) were open/operating and in good condition, clean and well supplies. Campground host was fabulous!

Beautiful campground, spaces slightly close together. Really helps to look at the individual campsite photos when making reservations. We have camped here 3 times, have always enjoyed it, and will probably be back.

A real gem, walk-in camping was quiet, right next to trails, and picking apples in the orchard was a real surprise/pleasure
