The cabin was definitely rustic but it was perfect for our family group. Well situated and easy to get to. We did have a problem with starting the stove but the maintenance crew took care of us quickly. We were there during spring break time and it was a little cold for water activities BUT excellent otherwise. Temps we comfortable, excellent shelling, excellent fishing. The campground itself was nice and quiet. Really great experience. No issues with cabin 19 and would stay in it again.

Great staff at ranger station. Back roads really need help at turtle detours. Some broken bed boards make upper bunk unsafe. Cant wait to go back.

This is our 3rd time to Cape Lookout and the island is amazing. The park service staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The cabins are rustic as we expect but it sure was nice to be protected from the wind and rain from the hurricane that was further inland.

We stayed in Cabin 19 this time. The cabin was clean, and the hot water functioned properly in the shower. The stove worked but it was difficult to get it to light with no rhyme or reason why it worked when it did.

The cabins are rustic but just what one needs to get out of the weather on Core Banks. The rangers and volunteers were friendly and very helpful. We will be back.

The cabins are in the best condition ever. It is obvious that a lot of work has been done to them over the past year. Still very basic but clean and comfortable.

No one can predict the weather and it was bad. having been going to Core Banks since 2001 & have never seen the weather so bad. The accommodations were as expected, since there are described as rustic. Surprised that the park service staff left the island and therefore no services, like ice, fuel, etc were not available.

Park Ranger(s) went thru all of our personal belongings after decideding we should be evicted despite there being NO PROBLRM . No one was trying to check in. We had separate Reservations to complete our week stay. My prescription medications were thrown helter shkelter in different bags.

Cabin 19 was infested with ants. When we first arrived I spent about an hour trying to kill and sanitize all surfaces in the cabin with little result. We had ants all over our food and in our beds all night! We left the next morning after being there less than 24 hours. Worst experience at Great Island Cabins I’ve ever had.

Awesome trip with memories made with my son to last a lifetime! If you've never been before don't expect the Four Seasons. This is a rustic cabin with a clean bunk to sleep. The hot water can be hit or miss. Take everything you need, be prepared, and you'll have a great adventure.
