My wife and I had a wonderful time at Oregon Inlet Campground. Making the reservation was easy, self check-in was a breeze, and the grounds and restrooms were well-kept. Having the beach just a quick but adventurous walk through the dunes was perfect. We will definitely be back.

I love the Oregon Inlet Campground. It really gives you the full effect of camping the Outer Banks. Lots to see and do between the fishing marina across the road to the Bodi Lighthouse down the street. Far enough away to feel like youre really out there but yet close enough to great beaches, towns, site seeing, fishing, kayaking and so much more. Ill be back.

Pros: Beach access was great and very close. The price is manageable for a family trying to take a cheaper trip to the beach. The facility is clean and well-kept. The bathrooms were even clean and we saw park attendants going around to see that everything was in order. We didn't see any trash lying about.Cons: This is right on a well-used road so the noise isn't great. I kept hearing semi-trucks blaring down the road into the night, so if you're a light sleeper this may not be great for you. The shower opens up to the whole campground with one small door as a barrier. The door is not full length- meaning if you bend over or squat while showering there is a good chance someone might see you. There is one small corner shelf in the bathroom, so we didn't have any choice but to put our stuff on the ground which would be no problem if the door went down to the ground. The particular lot we stayed in was not great for tent camping. No airflow and smaller than most other lots and slanted.

Plan for a peaceful, sunny and quiet retreat. Take your hot showers before you get here, because the showers are cold. Bring a book, your beach chair, a bag of charcoal and a warm jacket. If you must, there are plenty of food options a few minutes north on 12. OIFC now has a restaurant across the street by the marina store.

Loved my site in front of the sand dunes and a short walk to the beach and ocean. Could hear the waves from inside the camper. It was a very pleasant stay.

Facility was clean and well kept, a bit dated, but nice over all.Easy day trip to Hatteras Island from here with several land marks and points of interest. Coquina Beach is just to the North and several beach access points south.

The Oregon Inlet campsite has one loop just for tent campers, Then the other loops are for RVs. What was not well publicized on the website is that there are a number of sites that do have electric connections. They are closer to the road and therefore are a bit noisier. Oregon inlet is well positioned to give great access to the more northern portions of the Outer Banks. The sites themselves are paved and level. A number of the dry RV sites back up on the dunes. Access to the ocean over the dunes does require climbing up a number of dunes, and certainly is not something that one could do if handicapped or not steady on legs. There are other public access points that would allow mobility-limited persons access at a number of points in the Hatteras Seashore area. Fishing and shelling are great. The Outer Banks is often windy and for that reason, kite flying conditions are very good. There is a dump site nearby.

Good access to the beach and friendly staff, but lots of road noise and the showers are cold only (i.e. made for rinsing off sand rather than washing).

We stayed in loop B at site B4 in a 10ftx10ft tent July 10-14, 2022. The site was large enough and had a nice dune that shielded us from the wind when it came from the ocean. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We visited Bodie lighthouse and the Wright Brothers museum both of which we recommend. The beach is a 2/10 mi. walk and was beautiful; mornings and evenings especially so. We really appreciated the hot showers too! There's WiFi at the office but we didn't use it.

Why leave. The walk through the dunes to the water is quite special and protected. Such a reward.
