No wood fires allowed. Showers were shut down two days before we arrived. Nothing on the website about them closing.

The campground was clean and quiet. The bathrooms and shower were close to the campsites. Bathrooms and showers were also clean and everything functioned. Im not sure why the website said they had no hot water. It was 65 degrees, rainy and windy when we went and my wive and I both had a nice warm shower.

We had a great time at B18. It was close to both the bathroom facilities and the beach. The rangers were very helpful. We enjoyed the very dark skies that the site offers; great for stargazing! And the showers we had were heated. We would defintiely return!

Everything went fine except we could have used a dump station, however one the rangers was nice enough to tell us where there was one free of charge up North so overall everything worked out.

The campground staff were super nice, and it was very clean. I wish we had known there was a number to call for the people who had their generator on all night.

Great beach camping location, easy walk through the dunes to the beach. Note that in off-season bath houses are only partially open- toilets, no showers.

I've camped here several times and I've never had a bad experience. Campsite B18 is close but not too close to one of the restrooms and just over a dune from the ocean. The 'old guy' rate is also helpful.I recommend it.

The volunteers were so friendly . The bathrooms and showers not the greatest but the water was warm. Sites narrow and lots of sand burrs. The camphost really what gives this place a higher rating and the fact you right by the ocean

The facilities were great and well maintained. The sound of the ocean was an added bonus. Would absolutely stay here again.

One camp host was very harassing with parking up front during normal business hour. No posting signs, just prohibited overnight. Honestly whole year of camping and worst camp host about parking.

Dump station out of order for the entire week. Beautiful dunes and beach.

First the negatives: the shower is advertised as a hot shower thats a stretch its mildly warm and its basically outside, with a very minimal door. This is probably not an issue in the warmer months at the beach but when we went the temps dropped to the low 50s and the 20-25mph wind off the Atlantic mad for a brisk and very brief shower.Second negative is we had not designated spot to do camp chores such as cleaning dirty dishes. I asked the camp host and he said he had no idea, he had never been asked that before? We had a small pop-up camper but we did not get a electric/water site but it was an RV/tent site. I was surprised to not have a dish washing area at a national campground. Positives were many the location was awesome, right in the beach super easy beach access. Stargazing and sunrises were amazing and looked forward to everyday! The campground was setup very nicely and had generously sized sites more that adequate space for everyone. The bathrooms were clean and easy to access from any site. Overall we would come back as prices were great and the location was fantastic to most things in the outer banks but the showers and a dish cleanup area could use some attention.

We stayed at site B18 right by the dunes. Although the sites around us were filled, everyone was good neighbors. The sites were decent size. The campground was very clean, we didnt use the amenities so I cant comment on those. Also liked that this was remote from the touristy areas but still close enough to be in town with a short drive. Our goal was a long weekend to disconnect from the day to day and recharge the batteries. It was the perfect spot for that. So we didnt care that cell service was low (2bars on AT&T) but it was still good enough to stream a movie.

The sites in loop C are spacious and level. We were in C27 with a 40 ft class A and 4 slides. Plenty of room. Easy access to the beach. Camp hosts are a very friendly and helpful crew. We love staying here.
