Have used this campground multiple times while in the area. It's close to the places I needed to be, and had decent restrooms and campsites. Would stay here again.

Small site, very close to next sites. Close to hwy 12 and road noise. Good view of Dumpster fire when I was there. Bathrooms were reasonably clean considering the crowd. Wind did not get above 30 mph this time. Never saw anyone at check in.

This is a great location. Convenient to beaches and fishing. The campsite was quiet at night so our sleep wasn't often disturbed. The bathroom and showers were a nice feature. (Although I wouldn't recommend counting on the showers in colder weather because they have open ceilings and the door bottoms are open to the outdoor temps.) The staff was friendly. We pulled in and our site was ready with our reservation posted at the site. It was very seamless and didn't require us to stop and check in. The sites were very well marked and the campground was clean and well maintained. The only thing I could say that was less than perfect was the size of the sites. They are pretty close to one another in many instances. Given the location, this was a minor detractor.

Great campground. Facilities are well-maintained. Check-in was easy and our spot had already been marked for us. Multiple vehicle access points to the beach are nearby. You can easily walk to the beach from the campground. Overall, a great location for staying while going to visit the various activities and sights in the upper end of the OBX.Some things to note about this campground. It's continuously windy and the winds will readily blow things off your table. The ground is sandy and you will need tent stakes designed for sandy ground. The seed stickers are plentiful; check your shoes before going into your tent or RV. Cell coverage (Cricket) is iffy. One of our phones generally had a little coverage, while the other generally couldn't get coverage.

Very nice campground, clean and right on the beach. Refreshing unheated showers! Friendly staff. No shade, but thats expected. Just a short walk over the sand dune paths and youre on the Atlantic Ocean. Little prickly sand stars preclude going barefoot, and you might have to help out your doggy friends paws in that regard. Highly recommend.

We tent camped overnight (no power/electric hookups). Check-in was smooth and the rangers on duty were friendly and helpful. The campground was clean. There were separate buildings for showers and toilets, both were clean and sufficient. The showers operated by pulling a handle, so it's a bit different than just turning on a faucet, but worked fine. We stayed in October - the mosquitos are still aggressive at this time of year, so bring bug spray! For others to know, it's common near the dunes - it's not really advised to walk barefoot around the campsite due to the burs that will stick in your feet. Our doggies seemed to collect them in their fur and it was not alot of fun to remove. Overall, great campground, especially for the cost.

Overall we had an excellent experience! Walking around gives you a better idea of what site to book for next time! We brought shoes for our dog just in case of sand spurs, which I would recommend doing because they are there esp if your site is in the sandy dune area!
