Dirty beach littered with trash and sea grass. Campground site very clean thanks to the camp hosts. Bathrooms and showers decent, cleaner than other OBX NPS sites. Beautiful sunsets from campground.

Great location, easy walk through the sand dunes to the beach, clean bathroom and free hot showers. Camping in the sand comes with getting sand and ants in your tent though so be aware! Felt safe as a solo female traveler even at a busy time.

We stayed the 3rd week of April in our VW Eurovan. Being from Maine the weather, mostly in the 60s was quite welcome. The winds were consistent and quite gusty at times. The campsite sits right up against the dunes. There is no shade and sand accumulates easily. The beach beyond the dunes, a hilly 5 to 10 minute walk, was mostly empty and a great place to watch the sunrise, walk, play with your dog or fly a kite. The facilities were more than adequate and the camp hosts were available and helpful. Many things to do within a 45 minute drive north or south. This is a truly unique camping experience and I highly recommend any camper, vanner or rver to set up here for a great experience.

Great facilities, bathroom and washouses. Close to beach. Checked in later, like 5pm

Saw dolphins, which regulars said is very common.

Love the location and access to the beach fantastic. If you bring a dog or a hairy dog be-aware that the location all over OBX has round ball thorns that gets stuck to almost everything. Never walk barefoot you will regret it. Always check your dog for thorns.

The spot was perfect, the rangers are exceptional. The WiFi could be better , but you are supposed to disconnect when on vacation.

The campground was clean and nice. It is important to note that you have to walk up and down several dunes to get to and from the beach which can be a lot with a lot of bags/coolers for the day and with kids who have to go back to the bathrooms regularly. There were also a tremendous amount of sand spurs at the campsite and along the dunes which were constantly stuck in our feet and clothes and blankets. The shower facilities were outdoors but had warm water which was great. The staff was onsite and friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a good experience here.

The campground was very clean and so nice!! Camp staff was top notch!! Close and easy walk to the beach. Take your mosquito spray because if the wind is coming from land side they will out to get you..We had a GREAT week!!
