This is a great spot. Yes you can hear road traffic but its not that bad. You can hear the ocean too which is a huge plus. The campsite itself is flat and grassy so easy to set up a tent. Campsites are close together but some are further apart than others. Wasnt a problem as I had great neighbors. People complain about bugs, I didnt experience any at all (but we did have 20 mph southwest winds the whole time which was actually nice). Pro tip dont get the campgrounds near the bathroom unless you dont mind people walking through your campsite. Overall this is probably my favorite campsite Ive ever been to, national park or otherwise. Short walk to the beach, the sound of the ocean, Bodie lighthouse in the background, beautiful stars at night it doesnt get much better,

During my hike of segment 18 of the mountains to the sea trail the Oregon Inlet Campground was by far the best. The sites were clean, spacious and flat. The bath house and showers were well maintained and clean. Very busy campground with campers all around and all following the rules for quiet hours. You could hear the ocean waves all night. Very relaxing! If you are a hiker or drive I would highly recommend the Sea Chef Dockside Restaurant across the street. Amazing food, drinks, wine and beer on tap. There is also a store next door thats sell a little bit of everything. Thanks

Plenty of austere, primitive barrier island nature here. Warm showers are a plus after swimming in cold months.
