Love the site. Close to beach. Only reason not 5 star is because there is alot of road noise. Road noise gets better the later in the evening it gets.

Highly recommend, its a very friendly campground. Very clean from the camp site to the shower house. Definitely do your research if youve never camped on the coast or sand.

Overall this was a decent stay! I imagine the campground feels pretty tight during the busier season, but there was plenty of space during my stay. I agree with other reviews that the sand spurs are AWFUL, especially so if you have fur babies with you. However, thats all part of the camping experience- just make sure to have adequate footwear and be prepared to pick them off of everything. Seeing as how the campground is right next to a busy highway it was no surprise that I could hear traffic, especially large trucks on the nearby bridge. But with the wind constantly blowing it all just runs together, so I didnt find the noise particularly annoying. The host that was on-site for my stay, I think his name was Dave, was super helpful and friendly! I am a single female in my 30s and felt very safe during my stay. The bathrooms were decent, but note that the showers are closed during this time of year. I would definitely recommend this campground!

We were only there one night, what we did do was very nice, overall a wonderful experience, got to get away from the hustle and bustle of Kitty Hawk and Nags Head.

Excellent campground and location! Be prepared to drive a long distance for supplies. Bathrooms clean, but be warned NO hot water, even though website indicates that hot showers were available, there wasn't even hot water in the bathroom sink.

Only real problem were sand-burrs. Camp sites should be policed for them and kept clear of them.

Good things: lovely staff, hot showers, close to Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills. Not good things: lots of thorns, beach is open to vehicles.

Friendly staff and beautiful beach just over the dunes. Sand burrs are fierce on dogs so be careful where they wander. Camping is a little close but the scenery is spectacular.

The check-in lady and her husband were very nice and helpful. There is no shade; bring your own. The campsites are pretty close to each other, but I had good, quiet, neighbors, so no complaint. It was easy access to the beach. It was very convenient to Bodie Island Lighthouse and Nags Head for dining out or other resources. The bathroom was clean. Although I did not use the showers, I hear they had warm water and were very nice. I look forward to staying here again.

Unfortunately, the weather was not ideal for camping. We experienced high winds and torrential rain during the night. We definitely felt sand blasted after staying here. The Bodie Island Lighthouse is very near the campground and is a great place to visit.

Loved this campsite! A dunes walk to a very quiet beach, the sound of the ocean while you sleep, and showers. Easy to find and nicely laid out.

The facilities are pretty decent compared to other beach camping sites we have stayed at. There is a drinking fountain, restrooms, and the shower has hot water. Access to the beach is pretty good, especially if you have a 4x4 vehicle. Definitely keeps you away from the beach crowds. The location is a bit of a drive from most of the activities, so that can be good and bad. There are plenty of grocery stores on the way in, so would be good to stock up unless you plan on heading back into town regularly.I'd say the biggest issue is the bugs, if there is a good steady breeze, then it may be fine. We have been here a couple of times where the bites can get to you. Either from the sand fleas (No See Ums), flies, or mosquitos. I'd say the latter is actually not even the worse. Second issue is the cacti and some of the grasses have burrs. Both of which can get into feet and everywhere else if not careful. But this is manageable compared to the bugs. This has become an annual visit for us, so definitely recommend.

Very nice amenities, informative check in, beautiful dunes and waterfront right next to the sites. The only issue was with campers not following the masking rules and busy bathrooms.

We stayed at tent site 13A. Itbwas one of the best sites in our opinion. Large area for our tent which was set further back from the black top driveway. So it felt a tad more private. Most sites are close together but everyone was super polite. As everyone has said....the sand spurs kind of suck. Bathrooms super clean. Showers had warmish water. We loved the water bottle filing water fountain. Would 100% book this campground in the future.

Answer campground right by the beach. The only minor inconvenience is not being able to have a bonfire

Awesome campground with easy access to great views of the beach. Stayed three nights in December and temps were mild. Perfect camping weather! Will definitely be returning to the campground. Very clean facilities and even warm showers!

Nice campsite among the dunes of the Outer Banks. Stayed in tent site A13 which backed into the dunes and was a short walk to the beach. Sites are reasonably spaced. Bathrooms were small but clean. Showers were basic but clean and had hot water. Driving on the beach was a fun time. Because of COVID in 2020, these campsites book up quickly, so don't wait to book.

Make sure you check the weather had to leave the first night the wind was so bad. Check out jeanettes pair jockeys ridge state park the Jolly Roger and the Wright brothers museum and monument.
