Amazing place, our 6 time. Be warned nature, and storms are poweful, as are the insects. In July, on our first night 7 ez up tents were crushed by wind / storms. Many tents flooded, so out in obx, your 20 miles offshore and nature is full on inher power and beauty. This place is stunning and for the hardy!

Fist night was a little noisy, but not after 10 PM. Camp site 18 was close to the bathroom, plus for me. Hike over to the beach was little longer than expected. Grass certainly needed to be cut. Showers and bathrooms both were clean and loved that hot water! I usually stay at cape point and that is quite the shower experience. Never saw who was overlooking the place. My tag was already on the post when I arrived, and I had no need to see anyone. Overall it was a good experience.

A nice campground, clean and well maintained. All sites are open, no trees, remember this is on the outer banks on the ocean side of the Hatteras National Seashore.

Seems to always be windy in this area. Open air showers (even though the water is heated quickly) are very cool when the wind blows through the stall. They are also pull chain operated, and water flow is stopped as soon as you let go.A limited number of sites have electric, so chose carefully if that is important to you.

Good staff who were helpful and facilities are nice and kept up well. Only 4 stars because it's a bit too close together in a lot of the spaces. So many have bigger rigs these days. You have to reserve a long way in advance to get a site with hookups.Watch out for cockle spurs when walking to the beach. We had three days of strong winds, so beach time was not the best. Scenic areas all around.

The campground was well maintained, good sites and had decent showers. However, my group and made a mistake on our reservation and were late to check out. We had driven up the beach to coralla which is about an hour and a half drive. We missed check out and the staff at the campground called us to ask if we were going to check out. We informed them that WE had made the mistake (we did not pull a Karen and blame them for it ) and immediately made our way back to the campground. Again, this was an hour and a half drive back. As soon as we returned we packed up our sight and made our way to the visitors center to check out and check in to our next sight, as we were another night and booked online on our drive back down. Upon returning the staff at the visitors center refused to speak to us and had called a law enforcement park ranger. The park ranger only spoke with my fianc and I for about 5 minutes (as there was nothing much to the situation) and he wrote us a $150 ticket for not following the terms and conditions of our campsite use. To top it off the gentleman who was staying at the campsite after us was parked close by mentioned to our group that he was not in any hurry for us to move and was not affected by our tardiness because we were still earlier than his check in time. The campground was nice and our experience at the location was enjoyable, however the staff is in no way shape or form helpful. I understand that this is a campground at a National seashore and that there are many guests every day during the summer season, but the situation was ridiculous and there was no communication from the staff.
