Generators at campgrounds should be relegated to specific areas.C loop shower and restrooms were closed. However, best. Beach camping. Ever. Biking into town an easy 3.5 miles.

Love the dune trail to the most beautiful beach in the country. And it gets perfectly dark to see the stars at night. Keep it wild and don't add electric hookups.

Liked being right on the beach. Nice bike trail to town. Ate at Howards Pub and SmackNallys on the water front. Will definitely come back.

Beach is wonderfully clean with plenty of room. No beach vehicles are allowed in this area making it a BIG plus. Short bike ride on separate path into Ocracoke to access a brewery & lots of eating places. Quiet hours were not enforced. Campsites are close together. Several generator users were using very loud models with complete disregard to proper hours. Some ran all day while owners were away. There is a single loop for no generators, but that doesn't help because of the open flat layout of the campground. Should be single loop for generators with the rest open to everybody else.

Beautiful remote enchanted island that was once the lair of Blackbeard in pre-revolution colonial days. I have been coming here since I was a kid. Only reached by Ferry. As long as you are aware that the mosquitoes do flourish in the Ocracoke summer and that you'll want to keep the bug spray handy, the campground has a variety of campsites - open in the middle and those tucked by the dunes on the left side. Bathrooms were clean when I stayed - be aware the showers are cold water only. One of the more extraordinary gifts occurs around the time of the new moon when the night sky recreates an awe that the early astronomers and poets experienced thanks to the remote island location and lack of light pollution while in the not-so-distant you become hypnotized by the rhythmic sound of the waves breaking onto the shore. The campground has its own private ocean beach - on the July weekend I stayed maybe there were a dozen or so people on it at any given time. I have yet to meet anyone who has visited Ocracoke and felt that there was anything ordinary about it.
