We stayed her in March so it was off season. The park is beautiful, clean and we had it mostly to ourselves. Our site had lots of sun for our solar panel. We rode our bikes to town and toured around and ate lunch at the brewery. The crab stuffed pretzel is a must try. The hosts were super friendly and there was one heated bathroom open ( no showers). This is a wonderful peaceful campground to enjoy the beach, nature and see some stars.

We had an amazing time. We've camped here many times. Usually it is packed full. But since it was off season, the campground was almost completely empty, a completely new experience for us. And the weather was fabulous! And the beach was amazing! We enjoyed relaxing and walking the beach and campground several times a day. So relaxing! I highly recommend considering to come camping here off season.

It is lovely on the island in the middle of winter. It is just a bummer that there the showers are off at the campground.

This campground has everything you may need. The only thing I wish they had was warm showers. I prefer tent camping to experience more of a rugged feel but I do envy people with campers as they can take a hot shower. This is definitely one of the nicest campgrounds! I love how the 4x4 access is right beside the campsite as well. You cant have a fire on the cam ground but you can have a fire on the beach which is pretty cool!

We had a very nice site--B-9--easy access to the beach. Bought excellent fresh seafood in the village and had a couple of fantastic dinners. Had bought a beach pass and enjoyed driving on the beach where it was permitted. Rangers were helpful in keeping us updated on the weather (Ian was coming) and helped us have some internet service at the kiosk. We hope to come back in November.

One of my favorite places to go. Off the beaten track. Dark skies at night with stars and Milky Way blazing overhead. Shelling is good on the beach, and beach is never crowded. Noseeums in the form of sand flies are real. voracious and will go through most window screens - screen houses, tents and RV's. Come prepared with noseeum netting and bug spray (25% DEET seemed to hold them off ). Try and pick a site that will catch the breeze, vs sheltered ones hard up against the Juniper's. When the sun goes down be prepared for mosquito's, clouds of them. The windy sites were virtually bug free, except on the down wind side. Dump station and water fill worked out great, and recycling center was convenient. Rest rooms exceptionally clean - except for the insects, and showers although cold were quite refreshing after a warm day on the beach. Drawback for many is no electric or water hookup at each site, however we were there for a week and didn't miss it with prudent generator and short trips to town. Combined grocery and hardware store was well stocked (the Variety Store). Looking forward to next trip to Ocracoke!

Very relaxing camp ground. Bring bug spray or a screen tent, the mosquitoes can be a little much after dark. The general store in town is well stocked with grocery items as well as other general merchandise.

Beautiful campground. Arrived just after a fall nor'easter so had to cut our stay short. We'll be back in the spring.

I met up with my brother here before thanksgiving for a camping and fishing trip. We were able to get a site on the beach side of the campground. It was amazing. Great layout, decent spacing between sites, probably the cleanest NP bathrooms I’ve ever used. Loved that it was quiet (fall season and Covid) which made it feel safer. WARNING, tent campers - it gets windy. Only thing I would wish for is being able to have a wood fire to keep warm, although enjoyed my first fire on a beach instead. Will most certainly be making this an annual trip. Between the coziness of the island town, ferry ride, beach, and over 300 lbs of king mackerel we caught, it was the best trip we’ve had in a long time. Also, walking onto the beach in the morning with my coffee and not seeing a single soul in sight.... priceless. Just the sounds of birds, wind, and waves.
Excellent

First timers for this past visit. Campground was not particularly crowded when there (late Nov.). Facilities were clean and many of the camp spots were unique and with varying access points over the dunes to the ocean. Even in late November the mosquitos came out to visit, particularly around dusk - so be prepared. Hard to beat Ocracoke's quality of beaches and it's a great experience to camp footsteps away.

My favorite place on earth. Peaceful and beautiful private white sand beaches just over the dunes. Direct access from camp sites. One of a kind place
