Excellent campground. No hot water in showers but may not be a problem obviously in warmer months. I camped in mid May and it was freezing.

Short walk to pristine protected national shoreline - what more can be said about location. It's fantastic. Rated as "semi-primitive" tent camping. There are showers, water, bathrooms available. There is very little shade from the small shrubs that grow so be prepared for some miserable hot days when temperatures are high. Plan accordingly. Cell signals are weak. I was traveling on motorcycle which presents some challenges if you find yourself in a thunderstorm - you'll have to scurry to the bath house for protection from the lightning. https://www.instagram.com/p/CxB_kWfxA8y/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Clean campground. Only 1 bathroom . No light to find it at night.

We love coming to the outer banks, by car, motorcycle or motorhome. This was just an overnight stay as we had been here numerous times but was able to ride our bikes into the town and had time to hike the short trail to the ocean so we could walk the beach during our stay. There were storms coming in overnight, so we headed out early to catch the ferry to Hatteras and continued to our next campsite.

Mostly good. A tent only loop with no generators would be nice

Was adequate for the cost, stormy night, enjoyed the time spent on the beach

The ferry to Ocracoke was not operating the morning of our reservation due to high winds. Called to try and get a refund, and was told we could not get one unless the ferry was down all day. Did not choose to sit in car all day to find out, so lost our camping fee. If you cancel on the same day, you lose the fee. Very disappointed. Seems unfair. The ferry did resume operations, but we would’ve had to wait over 3 hours to go to the island. Just be aware that the weather on the Outerbanks can be unpredictable.

I have been coming to this campground for years to escape the noise and lights of other campgrounds/areas and this year was the first that it was not enjoyable. While they are not allowed I experienced a high number of RVs running generators all night. The beach lot next to the campground also seems to be a popular spot for car campers running their vehicles all night. It seems with no attended/park rangers making rounds/showing a presence campers are not held to campground rules and guidelines
