Clean facilities and well-maintained campground. Our site D17 was surrounded by trees so was well protected from the wind. Look forward to returning!

This is just a great campground. Nice amount of space between spots, right over the dunes to the beach, and clean facilities.

Very nice campground, sadly 2 out of 3 restrooms were closed and the only one which was open was very far from my campsite.

One of my favorite places off-season. Bring all your winter gear/layers and enjoy being one of the very few souls walking the fabulous miles of beautiful beach. When it's really too windy to walk on the beach, I enjoy walking the nature trail through the maritime forest that is off of the little parking lot directly across Hwy 12 from the campground entrance.

The new reservation system is awkward for a seamless camping experience. We watched a multitude of folks have to move sites more than once as the site they were in was reserved for part of their stay. The campground hosts reported it as cumbersome as well. It would prove more useful to reserve a spot in the campground but not a specific site. That way once someone has arrived they will not be forced to leave because 'Weekenders' haver taken a site for two days thus forcing long term campers to move. The hosts were wonderful. We have been camping there for over forty years.

Great place ..... except for the dogs and the idiots who own. Them...Please national park limit dogs to one only.....per visitor...and inflict a huge fine on the owners who don't pick up their dog shit...or allow unsupervised dogs.....other wise a fantastic place

Once you get off the ferry from Hatteras the campground is only a few minutes down the road and the town of Orcacoke just a few minutes beyond the campground. Campsites and neighboring beach were clean and big enough not to feel crowded or uncomfortable. You can get a beach fire permit for free off of nps.gov and make a fire right on the beach which is excellent if you visit during a cooler time of year and want to take a dip in the ocean ( I visited in December). The Orcacoke Variety store has fire wood and just about any other supply you can think off and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One thing to note if you are bringing your dog is the abundance of these small thorny pricklers that are all over the place behind the dunes. My dog got them stuck in her paws numerous times and they bothered myself a plenty if I wasnt wearing shoes. Some booties for your dog might be good to protect their paws. Overall, I highly recommend this campground, beautiful beaches and if you get lucky to have a clear sky at night youll see a spectacular display of stars.Enjoy!-S
