The Ocracoke Campground is a favorite destination for me. Beautiful beaches, excellent campground, friendly ferry staff to and from, and we recommend Howard's pub for delicious seafood!

Tami, the volunteer park ranger , helped us to arrange continuous days during our stay. She is extremely bright and goes above and beyond in the customer services. Ocracoke is unique in that there is no electricity or hot water in showers. BUT you hear the waves crashing and sleep under the stars. The beach is spectacular. Very unique experience.

The best sites are the ones next to the dunes and closest to the ocean- from A3-D12. All these sites have your trailer facing north if you back in. This is very important in terms of managing the sun. This will result in the sun warming you up in the morning as it will be below the awning. As it starts to heat up the awning will block the sun. In the late afternoon the hot sun will be baking the trailer but we will be under the awning on the cool side of the trailer. We had reserved D11. This was not a good site. There was not adequate room to put out the awning and to have a level area under it for our chairs. There were also some obnoxious and noisy neighbors far to close to us in D12. We moved. The campground host was very nice about us moving. Fortunately there were numerous empty sites. The only difficult part was we had to have internet access to find out what sites were available and to actually move off our reserved site (D11).The very best primo sites are A3, A5 and A7. You probably need to reserve these months ahead. We went to see the lighthouse early (9 AM) which worked out well as there were no crowds and we could park in front. We also went to see the British Cemetary. It always amazes me that there was a German sub patrolling so close to the US shore. We would have liked to stop at Howards Pub, but with COVID-19 here we werent going to be able to do that.

The best campground on the OBX to get back to nature. Camp is just over the dune line. Quiet and relaxing with the only sound at night being the surf, frogs, and crickets.
