We love this campground. We get one of the perimeter sites with trees to tent camp. The beach is great as there are few people.

My daughter and grandsons stayed for two nights. It was a grand time and beautiful weather. we plan to go back for another trip maybe in the fall. this campground was clean and had good facilities. we talked to the park ranger and he was very nice and helpful. overall a great place.

The camp host was very helpful. Checking in took an hour as the internet was very limited. Having a second checkin option would be great (envelope or something simple)> We met a woman the next day who had the same issue. If u are doing this checkin on the road then doing it online has many difficulties, like poor wifi service.

The site was well located and had some shade. Unfortunately there were egg shells and other garbage in the bushes which really took away from the experience

Ok, so if you’re a tent camper beware that many (most) of the sites are open field type sites. Perfect fine for some, but for those seeking privacy take your time when choosing. Loop D is great since it is free of generator noise. Great national park campground overall. Short walk to stunning beach from every site, the bathrooms were cleaned thoroughly daily, and the showers tho cold were perfectly suitable for a quick shower. Under ten mins to the south puts you in Ocrakoke village and all that it has to offer (the variety store has everything a camper could need) as well as the ferries to Cedar Island and swan quarter, while ten mins to the north is the free hourly ferry to/from Hatteras.
Things to know; no fires, the sand fleas on the beach will maul you especially your ankles and exposed top of your butt if you’re in a beach chair if you don’t use deet, and the mosquitoes will do their best imitation of being vampires at your site. Deet, screens, and after-bite will be your friend. Enjoy!

The application needs help. It’s desperately inadequate.

My spot in the D loop had both privacy and shade unlike most of the sites in the campground
