I had the campground mostly to myself on the evening of December 24th, and it was spectacular. The weather was clear enough that I could see the Milky Way.

My second stay at Ocracoke Campground. Tent camper, Gazelle T4 plus. Site was clean and well maintained. Bath house was very clean as well. Cold water only. Outdoor showers and potable water were off in winter so BYOW. Only ever camped in fall and winter so wasn't very crowded but, I'm sure it does get packed in the summer. Very quiet at night (when I was there). Great place to access beach, access ramps, access sound. Biking, walking, kayaking, fishing, shelling, oyster/clam harvest, bird watching, driving on beach (permit), fires on the beach, or head into town for shops, restaurants, charters. Overall, one of my favorite spots on the earth!.

Really spectacular stars. Warm bathroom, never took the cold shower in December. Relatively close to good restaurant and brewery.

Nice little campground, right on the beach. Well kept, and plenty of space between campsites. Only problem is they did not have heated showers.

Such a beautiful, small island with an ideal camp setting steps away from the beach. We had to leave early due to incoming storms. If it's windy, it's BEST if you have a van or RV. Camping in a tent is not ideal for the strong winds that may occur. Luckily, we had the van!

I usually come here in early March when it's less busy and cooler but while it was definitely more crowded, it was still a great experience. Bonus: the showers were turned on! These are VERY basic seasonal (April-October) cold showers in an outdoor stall, not within the bathhouse, but I gave it a try and it was less traumatizing than expected. I was in campsite D007 - that side of the loop is my favorite. You can hear the ocean at night and it seems less buggy. Someone hoisted a pirate flag in the dune behind us, which I loved. People were nice and everyone was mindful of the quiet hours. I've been coming here for a few years now and it's a very chill campground, family oriented. My only complaint is that for some reason this time, there seemed to be a lot of dogs off leash. My dog can be fearful of some dogs so it was a bit stressful to constantly monitor the campground and the beach for loose dogs but thankfully there were not incidents. I just wish this was enforced a little better. As far as activities: the beach, first and foremost. Great shelling and not crowded, and you can walk forever. For me, that is the biggest draw. Ocracoke Village is 4 miles away and is very quaint, friendly people, local shops and restaurants and no chain stores at all, it's fun to check out. It can get busy with the small streets, lack of parking and golf carts so I usually just stay put at the campground. Hatteras Island is a 1-hour ferry ride away, if you feel like taking a trip within your trip.

Great campground, however, the path going to the beach forked and without signage led people to walk through the middle of our campsite to access the beach. Even though we had a tent, bikes, and multiple vehicles in our site, there was no signage telling people to use the other side of the fork in the path.

I enjoyed a relaxing night at the Ocracoke campground. The winter is a quiet time to be in Ocracoke. I think there were only three other campsites occupied the night I was there. My campsite was just on the other side of the dunes from the ocean. What a wonderful way to go to sleep - listening to the ocean. The campsite was very clean. I was tent camping and there was a nice level space to put my tent. The site had a nice picnic table and a grill. I was a short walk to the heated bathroom which was pretty clean. The only source of drinking and cooking water (that I could find) was at the water fountain by the bathrooms. The showers were closed for the season. There is a bike path that runs from Ocracoke Village to the the campground so getting back and forth the village is safe and easy.

Site was very clean on our arrival and level enough to use without blocks. The restrooms were clean as well. Campground is in excellent location with good beach access. It was very quiet and Rangers cruised thru regularly. This is one of our favorite places. we were in 25" Class C.

Add power and electricity like Oregon Inlet. Or at least put warm showers in.

If your idea of a good time is heat, bugs, and occasional extreme weather, this is the place for you. It is an amazing privilege to enjoy this special place. We are so grateful for a generator-free loop for those of us who want to camp simply and enjoy the sounds of nature.

campsites are very good. The administration of them is "free form". the indoor enclosed showers need improvement. Otherwise overall pretty good

We loved being so close to the beach. The campground community was very friendly, especially our host, Austin. He was always available and extremely helpful to us. The showers were shockingly cold in spring, but the restrooms well-kept. No-see-ums were nasty if cloudy; pack the bug spray. Fortunately, they hate the sun and it is a beautiful sunny place to camp.

Love the campground. Quite. Clean. Safe. Just a few short miles from the town of Ocracoke. Unlike Oregon Inlet's recent upgrades there are no hot showers nor electric/water sites. Very good beach access. You can hear the waves crashing from every site.

We had a great experience at Oracoke Campground. The site was clean and the campground well taken care of. When we first arrived the site next to us had a weekend party group. We asked the campground host if we could move and he said that it would be fine, just to let him know where we were going to. The site we chose, D7, was better than the first. Easy climb over one dune to the beach. The bathhouse was clean. We didn't use the showers as they were being worked on. Even though there is no electricity at the sites, we would still like to spend time here in the summer. Great campground!
