As beach camping goes, this place is the best. The campsites are not too windy or buggy, although both are just a part of beach camping. Multi-day storms can flood some sites, so be aware when you reserve and check weather - again, just a given with beach camping. Some sites are drier, windier, and less buggy than others, so take time to look at the site before reserving. Generally, the more sheltered, the more buggy. The Park Service does a good job of making sure that campers keep noise down after hours, which is greatly appreciated when you are in a tent or a pop-up trailer. They also take good care of the bathrooms and showers. We look forward to our next trip.

We had an amazing time at the Ocracoke campground. Our campsite was behind the sand dunes with easy access to the beach. The park staff was Very nice and accommodating. The bathrooms were clean. Our favorite part of the beach was like having a private beach with very few people on the beach. Bonus the beach is Dog friendly. The downtown area restaurants and shops are only a few mile from the campsite. We will definitely visit this island again.

Great campground. We stayed in the loop for tents, just a short walk over the dunes to the beach. Would be very hot in the summer (no shade), but pleasant in the fall. Be aware - Ocracoke is very buggy away from the beach!

Ocracoke is our favorite place to travel to every year. We were married on the beach 18 years ago. I would have given our experience there this year 5 stars but didn’t due the ongoing problem with generators. The rules regarding generators are clearly stated on the registration site and in the information provided when checking in to your site.
However, there is only a tiny sign at the entrance to loop D. People continue to ignore the rules and run generators. One guy hid it in the back of his truck and ran a power cord to his screen house to run an air conditioner. We come to Ocracoke to enjoy the ocean environment, not to listen to generators. Please put up a bigger sign and actively enforce the rules.

I could go on about people bringing dogs and setting up fences but I won’t press my luck for now.

Please do something about the generators. Thanks

Wonderful location!!!

Nice campsites!

Wish the showers had places to hang your clothes/stow your stuff.

Men’s room perpetually smelled of urine.

Would definitely stay there again.

I love this place! Far enough away from town so that it’s completely silent but close enough to bike there. Spacious clean lots with many of them separated by natural shrubs. Well maintained facilities and a fantastic host, you can’t ask for a better campground!
