The park is well maintained. Easy to self check in and find your spot if you use the website to get oriented. The campsites are cleared and restrooms easily accessible.Noted issues were thousands and thousands of sand spurs. Unable to walk without foot protection. Bathrooms do not have shelves so changing is difficult. Shower water is ground temperature. Felt like water went through a chiller before it goes to the shower.Reservation process is easy and works well. Will not return due to sand spurs. Dogs WILL be miserable due to sand spurs if you bring them.If you pull a camper, stay inside of your trailer and wear your shoes when you go outside it is great.

Roxanne Riccio is the model for what a campground host should be. She is friendly and outgoing and helpful in every possible way. Roxanne is a happy person, and she makes it her daily goal to make everyone around her happy, too.Matthew Tolson is one of the nicest human beings I've met. He cares so much about this campground and works so hard to take care of it and repair what needs repairing. He cares about Ocracoke and the way of life there, and he deserves a giant raise for all that he does.

This campground is terrific. It feels remote, but is only 4 miles from the town area with lots of restaurants and shops. Sites are spaced out. Great experience.

Had a great stay at the campground, well maintained and bathrooms/shower house cleaned daily

The camping is beautiful, but the mosquitoes ?? are a problem. Only that.

Ocracoke is a special one-of-a-kind island, with history dating back to Blackbeard's lair, and a charm all its own. The eye of Hurricane Dorian crossed the island and put much of it under water... for which recovery has been ongoing. And then there has been the pandemic. But the people are resilient, the island is resilient and this continues to be one of the special places on the planet. If you are camping on a clear night, consider ditching the rain fly and watching a night sky, the milky way, shooting stars and more that used to awe ancestors before the rise of electricity of light pollution dimmed its effects. Be aware that mosquitos are ubiquitous in the summer season - repellent and adequate tent screening a must. Also, for purist tent campers, Section D prohibits generators. Each section has two showers - no hot water - but in summer the cold water isn't that cold. You are four miles from town and internet signal varies between extremely weak and nonexistent. Of course if being digitally connected is a priority, an NPS campground on a remote island is not for you. If you can manage bugs, the lack of hot water for showers, and the loss of digital connection, then this place is paradise. Particularly with a beautiful beach at your doorstep and at night the sound of breaking waves as you drift off to sleep.

A wonderfully peaceful place. Large sites, nice bathroom facilities and helpful staff. And, hearing the ocean and seagulls is amazing.
