Overall, my experience was great. I had a bit of a bathroom emergency and that was how I realized half the bathrooms were closed. That part was NOT cool. I asked a park ranger which was open and was told but I took my bike to alllll the bathrooms afterwards and the only ones I could find open were there D loop ones. When I was told B loop was too. Idk with thst many people why bathrooms would be closed, but I get it. Otherwise, I had a great time and already booked a return trip!

This was my 8th memorial day stay to this campground since 2010. Weather is usually amazing which is why I choose that weekend. The bath houses and showers have been well-maintained and even have water bottle refill stations at each bathhouse. The campground doesn't have hot showers but at 4 or 5pm after a sunny day at the beach their showers feel so refreshing! The no-see-ums and mosquitos are usually mild if there's a little wind; I always bring bug spray and a picknick table netting tent just in case but havent needed to deploy it in several years. There is a wide paved path separate from the road for bike rides into town (suggest using both 'see and be seen' lights at night).

Campground was great the only issue/ improvement I can think of would be hot showers.

Stunningly beautiful location and we cannot wait to return again!! Campground was quiet and facilities were clean. Sites were not too sandy - we were able to use regular tent stakes. Definitely bring a screen canopy and bug spray - the mosquitos were wicked!

Warm showers during the fall would be nice.

The ferry cancelled services without calling those with reserved tickets from Cedar Island to Ocracoke. Hours of unnecessary driving wasted. Unable to camp and website is not user friendly enough to cancel. As it stands, no refund for ferry or campsite at this time. Never been to Okracoke and now do not trust the ferry services to ever attempt to go again.
