If you arent one of the first people to reserve a site right next to the dunes, this is your next best option! Lots of privacy with a tucked away canopy of trees providing much needed shade on a summer day. The sleeping pad location got lots of wind and airflow at night. Bathrooms were a quick walk away and well maintained. Dont be tempted to be one minute closer to the beach and stay on the inner perimeter of the loop- with zero shade- this is your spot! Great beach location as well!

I just love this location. In addition, the campground host was really nice and helpful and a very easy going way. Great job!

Considering it's the light-polluted east coast, this area of Okracoke does get dark enough to really see some stars. We saw the SpaceX capsule streaming high above! Blew our minds because we weren't expecting it (is it a UFO? is it a weirdly slow-moving meteor?) This campground always lends itself to magical experiences. And, on a more mundane note, the bathrooms are clean and people are friendly. Thanks so much to all the rangers and camp hosts who make this possible.

My experience at Ocracoke for 10 days in early November was tempered by two days of gale force wind, rain and chilly temperatures. The ferry service to Cedar Island was suspended due to the wind extending my stay by two days. Other than that, I loved it.
The reason for my four stars rating has to do with the Hummock Trail across the street which is part of the Park. The trail is in dire need of maintenance due to failed bridges and walkways making it a dangerous liability. It’s a lovely, peaceful trail. I hope the NPS allocates the funds to restore what could be a wonderful Park asset.

Great campsites, great beach, great food and drink choices in the village.

Loved the isolation being out on the Atlantic coast on Okracoke Island here. Our campsite had the tent area nestled in the tall dune shrubs providing some protection from the sun and wind. Speaking of wind... this campground can experience some really windy conditions. Instead of cold showers, heat up some water and take it with you to the shower stalls for a warm shower.
