It was my first time camping, but everyone was wonderful and so was the campsite!

I love the campground and I love it more when fellow campers follow the rules and respect them and their fellow campers. There were several instances where campers used loud industrial generators that were really obnoxious. There were even campers that camped in Area D (where we camped) that used generators and that's a violation but there were no rangers or volunteers late in the day to make them move to a different campsite. We camped at a very hot time. Temps were in the mid to upper 90's and only dropped to the mid 80's at night. Our rooftop tent was hot at night.. Having an electric hook up would have made for a better summer camping trip at Ocracoke Campground. Maybe someday the park service will upgrade and enhance the campground with electric service so we can use it year round.

The camp site is a good size and well spaced out, the individual site we camped on was fine, other than the number of bugs, but I think that can't be helped camping so close to the beach surrounded by long sand dune grasses that are a perfect breeding ground for them.

What I thought was lacking were the facilities, the showers are very basic cold water showers, there are no lights inside the shower block, if there had been lights, as it was open above and below the door, all the bugs would have been attracted, so clearly not ideal if you wanted to have a shower in the evening.

What I found even more strange were the lack of facilities to wash dishes, at most campsites there will be various outdoor sinks to allow people to wash their dishes, even the attendants who told me they had lived on the site for 2 months said they thought this was strange, they, along with everyone else just washed their dishes using the tap by the outdoor shower, surely this is not hygienic and probably attracts even more bugs to the shower area!

I would stay again, but I am sure some people would be very put off by the above mentioned isssues.

Campground hosts Gary and Kathy were very nice. Represent the campground well. Just wish there was warm water available at showers.
