We loved our stay. Great campsite, such a pretty place! 2 wonderful park rangers( 2 women- one was in training) were so helpful in getting us signed up for our stay.

We were there end April. We really enjoyed our three days at Ocracoke. The campground was great, even though it didnt provide for hookups. Its beautiful, remote and the sites are well spaced. Great access to beach over the dunes. Not crowded at all. Town is within biking distance on a separate bike path.

the camp grounds was well maintained staff was very help full over all it was a pleasant time but i forgot what it was like to camp with no hookups next time i will plan a little better its just my opinion from camping there in the late 80s they need to remove a lot of the brush to open up the looks of the camp grounds

A terrifically beautiful natural island setting a few miles from Hatteras. If you love the ocean, this is a wonderful place to stay. The campground was clean and well run. The hosts were the ones who deserve the credit. They are so nice and so accommodating. My car wouldn't start on my check-out morning. I let the hosts know and they helped me make sure I could stay another day. The part I needed was being sent overnight from California. Amazingly, FedEx delivered to the campsite. But the hosts were planning to go to the downtown Hatteras NPS office in case the package was delivered there. In my opinion, this was an above-and-beyond courtesy, and it certainly gave me peace of mind. I'm grateful for their calm helpful demeanor and they do a great job keeping the campground clean and running smoothly.

Ocracoke is one of the most special places on earth to sleep under the stars. The campground does a solid job of keeping up with everything.

Ocracoke is my where my heart and soul and brain come to be replenished, renewed, restored.I am so grateful to all the park staff and camp hosts for all that they do. When we had to evacuate for two days for Tropical Storm Ophelia, everyone made sure that we all knew when we needed to leave and when we could come back, and they were so gracious in doing that and in welcoming us when we returned. If the whole world - and every organization in it - operated the way the Cape Hatteras National Seashore operates, we would live in a world of efficiency and kindness and love and concern for one another.

We camped with our tents at b8 and there is a toilet behind the camp site. Men's toilet was clogged with toilet paper. Also it rained 2 days before our camp day and there was water logging at many of the sites. It is impossible to put up a tent on such sites. RV must stand on water on such sites. Something must be done to make sure the water flows off the campground. My campsite was a little damp and we put up the tent on the tar available behind our car. It's advisable to carry bug sprayBeach is just a 2minute walk across the sand dunes. The pony pen and the Ocracoke village are 5-10minutes by car. The Cedar ferry terminal and the ocracoke lighthouse are at the Ocracoke village. The Hatteras ferry terminal is probably 15mins drive from the campsite.

Third year in a row at the same campsite and no complaints other than the usual biting bugs after dark. Excellent campground all around! Only wish the dumpster truck emptying the dumpsters would wait two hours after 6:30 a.m.! Loud bangs aren't pleasant that early in the morning.

We stayed from Sept 15 through 19th and this was our 3rd time staying. We stayed at B008 this time and had tons of room because the lot was much larger spot than most of the others. Facilities were clean (as usual). We had 5 great days of fishing !!! The only negative thing is that one of the toilets in the men's bathroom was still out of order (the same one was out of order when we stayed back in August). This caused a bit of a line on most mornings. The only improvement this place needs are hot showers and possibly power at the camp site.

Great campsite with easy access to town; the drive into town is about 3 minutes so getting to the grocery store, restaurants, or shops is simple. One of my favorite things about this campground is that you can hear the waves as you go to sleep and wake up, so peaceful. There are enough bathrooms, and showers, and all are a short walk away; the showers only run cool water.A great spot to spend time in Okracoke!

You couldn't get closer to the beach! Extra large site, nice privacy. Super close to the restrooms. Our first time boondocking and it was great, Just wish there was hot water in the showers.

This campground was just what we were looking for. Just a short drive takes you into the quaint town of Ocracoke. The campground is quiet and just a short walk over the dunes to a gorgeous beach. The facilities are clean and close by to every site. We plan to be back!

The beach was beautiful. The bathrooms were clean and well cared for.(Hot showers would have been nice). There were not too many biting insects, repellent seemed to work. It is an easy drive into town for restaurants or supplies. Very peaceful.

First time at the Ocracoke Campgrounds and we had a very pleasant experience. First of all, the location was really good. We stayed at site B008. The campsite was huge and bordered by full size evergreen bushes which made our neighbors not visible to us. Picnic table was huge and the grill was in good working order and recently cleaned out. Trash receptacles and showers were just a short walk away (use the showers in A loop as there was never a line there. At C and D loop the showers always had lines). The walk to the beach was short but arduous as you had to climb the dunes to get to the beach. These trails are best used by the fittest campers, especially if you are hauling chairs, cooler, and a shade structure. We did that once and decided to use the fully accessible board walk entrance to the beach just a short drive down the road. At that location they also had shower and toilet facilities and good drinking water. Back at the campsite, we found the drinking water to also be good tasting. The Host Camper Staff were wonderful with information about the area and what to see and do. They made the experience that much more memorable and positive. The dunes of which the campground sits behind are very intriguing from a ecological perspective and there is an abundance of small wildlife in the campgrounds. We especially loved the Ghost Crabs that were present at our campsite; they would emerge out of holes in the ground. For the most part, the breeze was ever present and usually about 10-15 mph consistently. However, if the breeze stopped, as it does in the early evening in particular, the mosquitoes would be out in force. Be sure to BRING BUG SPRAY CONTAINING DEET! The night skies were beautiful and the stars were a sight to behold even with the moon out. Other campers were generally friendly and there seemed to be quite a few single campers camping too. All in all a very positive first experience on Ocracoke Island and would definitely recommend!
