This was a great site tucked in between bushes for privacy. Private path between beautiful dunes to the beach. Bathrooms were clean and warm.

Beautiful and exciting place, I wish it was a hot water so I can tent camp on the cold months but so far is an excellent place for camping and hiking and be out there, see the stars and the Milky Way, I definitely recommend and Ill be back very soon.

This was my first time camping in 25 years. Overall it was delightful. I went to this camp site first because I was familiar with Ocracoke and knew I could find what I needed near by, I used this as a learning experience. One thing I know is that I would not want to camp in a tent there in the heat of summer. My last night was warm and there was no breeze and the mosquitos came out. It was harder to get comfortable under those conditions. The bathrooms could use a little attention and better daily upkeep, Otherwise, the other campers were mindful of each other. It was quiet and my site had some privacy and was a short walk to the beach,

Made sure to bring plenty of shade and bug spray and my camp kitchen. We cooked fresh seafood daily, stayed cool in the heat, and played on the beach every day.

Loved this campground. The location is beautiful, remote and the sites are well spaced. We were there early April. Lucked in to sunny, blue skies, near 80 degrees We were in the D loop in a site backing up to the beach. Slept with windows open in our RV all night to listen to the crashing waves. Pure heaven on earth.

Nice and quiet on D loop without any generator noise. Brought a propane fire pit as wood fires not allowed. Bought 4WD permit to go on beach at ramp 72 to surf fish. Awesome experience. Not many resturants open in early March. Campground host Keith is a retired Marine and nice guy to talk with. Can't believe they work for nothing but a site to stay in. No law enforcement Rangers in the campground when we were there, but they did patrol the beach. Campground reasonably quiet that time of year. Nice!

The most amazing campground I have ever stayed at. The sites were incredible, a short walk away from the beach, the facilities were clean and well stocked, and the camp host was kind and a treat to talk with! Will be back, highly recommend

As always the campground was great... The heat got to me a bit... The flies started doing a little bit of biting but not too bad...

D015 was absolutely, by far the best spot at the campground. It was extremely private and we basically had our very own beach entrance. However, because the tent pad is located so far back from the pavement and dirt, (1) make sure you bring sand tent stakes and (2) beware of higher winds---they seem to sweep across the grassy expanse right behind the tent pad and pummel this spot more than others.

I've read other people's complaints of bugs, but they weren't *that* bad. The mesh on our tent was tight enough to keep them out at night. As others have also mentioned, definitely bring your own source of shade (canopy, umbrella) because even the ground gets hot really fast.

Overall, a clean, quiet campground with well-maintained bathrooms and helpful rangers. Unbeatable remote location and natural beauty.

Our campsite was perfect. We had easy access to the beach, and a few bushes to protect us from the wind and provide a little privacy from the other sites. Bathroom and shower were clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Only downside were the mosquitos.

Nice campsite and easy access to beach via dune paths. Note in winter season they shut down showers and close some of the washrooms, so call to see which loop has an active washroom to avoid long walk. Park rangers were really nice.

I love staying at all of the campsites along the Outer Banks. This was my first stay at Ocracoke and the experience was similar. They are very well maintained, and in the fall they are mostly empty. You're almost guaranteed a campsite right along the dunes with direct access to the ocean via an existing trail. There's a picnic table and a fire ring at each site. Convenient showers (no hot water) and toilets and dumpsters for your trash. I'm sure even in summer it's very relaxing here compared to the popular beaches that don't need a ferry to get to them. The price, however, is quite high. They should consider a deeper price cut for the colder/in-between seasons. At $28 I was better off driving back to the north end and taking the ferry off island to boondock somewhere rather than staying two nights.

Well maintained campground, including the showers and bathroom facilities. Clean beach, peaceful. Recommend bringing something to provide yourself shade though, as no sites have shade.
