I believe the campsites not being used should be better regulated. Had to move for one night. No one was there. What is the plan for hot showers in the future? I believe most campers would pay for hot showers!!!

Beautiful location but watch out for mice. I had them all over my site.

Great spot, easy access to ocean. Fairly isolated and multiple place to put tents. I would recommend bringing a tarp to put down so you are shielded from excess sand.

Great Campground with spacious sites.

The camp site I reserved was taken by someone that wasn't suppose to be there. Talked to the campground host and they didn't do anything about it. Luckily there was just one beachside site left that was unreserved that we could use, but it wasn't the location we originally wanted and booked.

The camp ground themselves were fantastic and definitely recommended.

Awesome place! Great spots, clean facilities, right next to the ocean. Far enough away from lights that the sky is incredible at night. Perfect home base for exploring the Outer Banks. Definitely coming back

Our stay here was a great experience-the campground and island were clean, getting to and from the ferry was easy, making a reservation and changes were no problem, finding our camp spot and checking in was a breeze, the staff was nice and prompt to get back to you if they were unable to take a phone call, there were recycling options at the entrance, a convenient area existed across the street for taking care of grey water and septic along with getting fresh water and taking care of trash. There were many locations around the campground for showers, bathrooms, water for rinsing off after the beach, etc. The walk to the beach was nice and quick from our campsite. We really appreciated not having the commercial impact of advertising, noise, tall buildings, etc. It was just wide open, nice, and felt so peaceful. We really enjoyed the brewery not too far from the campground along with riding around the area. There are nice spots to visit such as the lighthouse. Highly recommend and would love to come back for another visit!

It's such a beautiful place! We appreciated the cold showers as we were there in the height of summer. The facilities are kept clean and the hosts and rangers are responsive to requests and inquiries.

Although my week there was remarkably bug-free, a screen tent is always advised. You'll want to create shade of some kind, too, for your kitchen. Bring --or buy at the hardware store in town--at least one 5 gallon bucket for hauling water/doing dishes.

I also like keeping a bucket of water by my tent door, in which to rinse my feet before bed!

Bring bicycles--it's relaxing and fun to ride around the campground and admire other people's camps!

We had problems with people cutting through our campsite to get to one of the paths to the beach. There is a path several sites up for people use that doesn’t go through anyone’s site. They had no problem walking straight past us.
On our last night there was a young woman visiting the site next to us. She was cursing very loudly using every foul word in the book. Problem was, it was before 10:00.
There seemed to be very little park ranger presence.

Wonderful campsite in the dunes!

This has always been a favorite campsite of ours. The best wilderness camping experience with only the basic necessities. It is clean, and the volunteers are friendly and helpful.
