The campground is beautifully maintainted and was the highlight of accomodations for our Outer Banks trip. Mosquitos and other biting insects were minimal during our stay the first week in May. It's just a short hike to the beautiful beach, but it does require some exertion through deep soft sand and climbing the trail over the dunes. The dunes do provide a break from much of the onshore wind - but this is a windy place, so be prepared. Ocracoke Village has everyting you need. We had good meals at Howard's Pub and at SmacNally's. A nicely maintained 3 mile bike trail takes you safely along the highway into town. Picknic tables at the boat ramp make for a nice sunset meal with pizza picked up from Sorella's. We are ready to go back!

I absolutely love this campground. Ive been staying at Ocracoke for over 20 years. The hosts have to be the best in the country. The facilities are amazing and appear to be cleaned twice a day. We stay a total of two weeks per year!

We are frequent visitors to the NPS Campgrounds in the Cape Hatteras and Cape Lookout National Sea Shores. The Ocracoke NPS Campground is a well maintained campground with friendly staff, both NPS and temporary hosts. However, there is one significant issue that needs to be addressed. The trees in the maritime forest on the campground are well trimmed back from the roads and camp sites. However the trees in the exit from the RV dump station have not been trimmed back and overhang the road. Large rigs should be very aware of this. On arrival our 5th wheel clipped our front cap and tore our roof edge on those trees. I mentioned this to the hosts to no avail, nothing was done during our stay. On departure we had to reverse into the double sided dump station. blocking the main road and the entry/exit from the dump station.

Wonderful quaint village and beautiful beaches. Eduardo’s taco food truck is a must! Ocracoke Island is always windy so be prepared. Dry camping but the Village grocery is only 3 mi away.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
