Great campground! Bring your bike and shade.

Great location just across the dunes from the beach. The sites are large and the pads level. A large camper might have trouble fitting on the pads, but ours fit fine. Warm showers would have made the experience perfect.

A very beautiful place to go.

This campground was very good! It is extremely self-service, which is nice, and we really enjoyed getting up early and seeing the sunrise just over the sand dune. This one horrible downside is that the whole campground is infested with sand fleas/sand bugs, which appeared as soon as the wind died down and bit us unrelenting. But I understand that that is unavoidable, and otherwise we had a really good time.

Most excellent stay! Rangers were constantly on patrol and attentive. Facilities were in great condition.

Great place to camp near the Ocean! Stayed in mid April and it was mostly retired folks, very quiet. Mosquitoes come out after dark but otherwise no bugs during the day. Clean well kept campground. Would love to come back!

We were in C-5, the sight is fairly level only required 1/2 inch raise. The sight isn’t very long or wide. We are in a 27 foot towable and occupied about 3/4 of the sight. We parked the truck on the side partially on the grass but no one mentioned the parking job. The roads in the campground are all paved and easy walking or bike riding. The bath houses were very well maintained (loop C anyway). The proximity to Ocracoke village was a very easy and short bike ride. The rangers and camp hosts were very regular about touring the camp ground.
Now the best part - the proximity to the beach from C5 was an easy walk over two dunes and we were there. The beach is very nice. It is very wide so vehicles don’t have to get close to you. Fishing and driving on the permits are easy to apply for so bring your fishing stuff.

Nice and large site close to the ocean and far from the road
Everything we need for a great stay
The ranger was awesome
Thanks Ocracoke

I've been coming to the campground for 50 years, and am happy to report that it hasn't changed ALL that much. What has changed is the abundance of RVs. Unfortunately, they are allowed anywhere but in Lot D, which of course is where al the tent campers want to be. I'd like to see the RVs relegated to only Lot A, where the noise from their generators would be concentrated in one area.

Second time here and we still love it. Bathhouses and campsites are always clean. Can't beat having the ocean literally at your door, too.

We camped just before July 4th. Many of the campers there were regulars during that time. Met many kind and friendly folks. The campground was clean and the employees were very helpful.

Beautiful remote campground. Excellent for dry camping. Plan to make this an annual event.
