The campground was quiet despite being fairly full when we stayed. The facilities were very clean and the location was amazing! Also, despite lots of rain leading up to our stay and during our stay, there were no mosquitoes to speak of. We werepleasantly surprised that the ground was not saturated with water so our tenting experience was still fantastic.

We had an excellent time at the Ocracoke campground. The beaches were just a short 1-minute walk over the sand dune. The grounds were clean, though the grass could have been cut, it was extremely high. You get used to the cold showers, they are more refreshing then you think! I think with electricity, this campground would be perfection!

Amazing little place to visit! Only bad part I found was the mosquitos! About the time dusk hits you'd best be prepared to stay in the tent or get carried away! Otherwise, it's a short (maybe 200yd) walk across the dunes to the beach! I was able to get out before the sun and mostly had about ¼ mile of beach all to myself! Saw dolphins for the first time as well which was amazing!

The site we stayed at was very noisy, camping neighbors would walk very close to our tent, talk loud after quiet hours and run generator starting at 6 a.m. On the positive side, we were very close to the beach and bathrooms.

This is a great, simple campground in a beautiful area. Mid-November was perfect with minimal bugs. Wished for warm showers (only reason didn't give 5 stars). No dump station so you must plan for that. Enjoyed the brews at 1718 Brewery and there are more choices for food and drink in the town. Enjoyed the deserted beaches and also did a hike at Springer's Point Reserve (Coastal Land Trust property). We took the Cedar Island Ferry to get there (make a ferry reservation - ncdot.gov).

The park itself was wonderful and the staff was friendly. The reasons for 3 stars were:Bathrooms were closed at 7a right when many campers are just getting up and need the facilities. (They were very clean however)There was construction going on that blocked access to showers from many of the sites on our loop. We had to walk through workers and the construction site to use both showers and bathrooms. The negatives could have been avoided with some either written notice (at least) or, better yet, direct communication from the on duty ranger/host who we spoke with at check in.

Warm showers, fire pits and dish washing sinks would make it better, but still an excellent campground and I'll be coming back regardless of the short comings. If you don't need the things I listed above then it is an easy 5 stars. Very clean, much of it is new because of rebuilding after hurricane damage. Note, if you don't like generator nose, book a site on loop D away from loop C, otherwise you'll still be next to them.
