My 31 year old daughter and I camped for a week in the highest elevation under the oak trees. The shelter provided by the trees was perfect. We were close to the bathhouse which was very convenient. We created a memory that will last for a lifetime.

We camped three nights at site 58 in a 25 foot Airstream. The site worked well for our wheelchair-bound son. We had shade and a glimpse of the dunes and ocean from our site. My husband used the cold water showers that were refreshing; my son and I used our Airstream facilities. We enjoyed trivia night at the Tiki bar in Hatteras and ice cream at Happy Belly Ice Cream. Surf fishing was the main event and we fished from the tip of Hatteras Island facing Ocracoke to the Hatteras Lighthouse. Air station was adjacent the Frisco Rod & Gun store at the entrance to Frisco Campground. We would stay here again.

I selected campsite P058 which is further from the beach but offers shade and seclusion. its a very nice site but is tight for space around the parking pad. the site is also on a slope so leveling your cooking and sleeping situations is a must. The Bath house is clean and orderly however the showers lack water pressure and while private-ish are not as private as i would have liked ( to door is rather short for me @ 6'5"). Having them is a huge plus though that other campground in the state do not offer. I would definitely return to Frisco and camp there again and for much longer than i was able to this first outing. I brought my rambunctious 6yr old son with me and this was his 2nd time camping and 1st time camping on the beach. He loved it but wished there was a playground. The beach access is amazing and the boardwalks out to beach make for and easy trip out. Great place overall. quiet, secluded, relaxing. oh NOTE: NO CELL SERVICE (t-mobile) within the campsite. some service on beach near to airport but dont rely on it being available at your site.

Shaded area I booked was in fact NOT shaded at all. Helpful ranger suggested a few better sites and I was able to change site.
